Hosts Annual Training Workshop At Florida Fish And Wildlife Research Institute in St. Petersburg, FL Mountain View, CA (December 19, 2014) – Chesapeake Technology, Inc., (CTI) hosted its annual SonarWiz training workshop at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute in St. Petersburg, FL this past week. The workshop covered sidescan, sub-bottom, magnetometer and bathymetric post processing as well as sub-bottom and bathymetric acquisition. Acquisition demos were graciously provided by Edgetech and Falmouth Scientific, Inc. featuring the 6205 and Bubble Gun respectively. The workshop, lead by V.P. of Development John Gann and recent addition Dr. David Finlayson, Chief Scientist, drew over 50 attendees from across the country and around the globe. Gann said “The event was not only a great opportunity for our users, but also for SonarWiz product development and customer relations – nothing beats meeting people face to face. Also, I personally enjoy hearing about the many projects SonarWiz is used for.” Luiz de Souza, a longtime user of Chesapeake Technology also attended the event. "Chesapeake Technology hosted an excellent workshop. And, the on-the water sonar demos by Edgetech and Falmouth Scientific rounded out the content quite well with acquisition on top of processing and interpretation.” Garry Kozak from EdgeTech said “Seeing the Real-Time 3D bathymetry data viewer when running the on water 6205 demonstrations was amazing, SonarWiz just keeps getting better.” The SonarWiz product team released version 5.8 of the software especially for this workshop. The update included several enhancements to sidescan, sub-bottom, magnetometer and bathymetry data processing, including: Sidescan users now have expanded feature viewing options in the sidescan waterfall. Sub-bottom updates were made to reflector exports and fragments. SEGY file import and conversion options were also expanded. Magnetometer options now allow default (1Hz) sampling or no-downsampling. Bathymetry updates included the ability to import vessels to the vessel editor, expansion of Grid file and XYZ export options, and a shaded relief drawing view of bathymetric grids.
