Gauge:

16 sts x 10 rows = 4” (10 cm) in dc

Note: The hat is made top down. The eye and spots will be made separately and sewn on to finish.

The Ch 2 at the beginning of the round will not count as a stitch.

0-3 months:

Using Blue, Ch 4.

Rnd 1: 9 dc in 1st chain, sl st to the first st to join. (9 sts) Join Green, drop Blue.

Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in each st, sl st to the 1st st to join. (18 sts). Pick up Blue, drop Green.

Rnd 3: * Ldc (See Special Sts), 2 ldc in next st, repeat from * to complete rnd, sl st to the 1st st to join. (27 sts)

Pick up Green, drop Blue.

Rnd 4: * Ldc 2, 2 ldc in next st, repeat from * to complete rnd, sl st to the 1st st to join. (36 sts)

Pick up Blue, drop Green.

Rnd 5: Ldc in each st, sl st to the 1st st to join. Pick up Green, drop Blue.

Rnd 6: Ldc in each st, sl st to the 1st st to join. Pick up Blue, drop Green.


Rnds 8-12: Repeat Rnds 8 & 9 ending on Rnd 8. Fasten off Green.

Rnd 13: Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to the 1st st to join. (36 sts)

Rnds 14-15: Ch 2, * fpdc, bpdc on next st, repeat from * around, sl st to the 1st st to join. (36 sts) Fasten off.

3-6 months:

Using Blue, ch 4.

Rnd 1: 10 dc in 1st chain, sl st to the 1st st to join. (10 sts) Join Green, drop Blue.




Rnd 4: * Ldc 2, 2 ldc in next st, repeat from * to complete rnd, sl st to the 1st st to join. (40 sts) Pick up Blue,

drop Green.





Rnd 11: Ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to the 1st st to join. (40 sts)


9-12 months:

Using Blue, ch 4.

Rnd 1: 10 dc in 1st chain, sl st to the 1st st to join. (10 sts) Join Green, drop Blue.

Spots (Make 6):

Using Yellow, ch 4.

Fasten off, leaving a 12” length.

Eye:

Using Black, ch 2.

Rnd 1: 6 sc in 1st chain, sl st to the 1st st to join. (6 sts)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st, sl st to the 1st st to join. (12 sts) Join White, fasten off Black.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, *[sc, 2 sc in next st], repeat from * around, sl st to the 1st st to join. (18 sts)

Rnd 4: Ch 1, *[sc 2, 2 sc in next st], repeat from * around, sl st to the 1st st to join. (24 sts)

Rnd 5: Ch 1, *[sc 3, 2 sc in next st], repeat from * around, sl st to the 1st st to join. (30 sts) Join Yellow, fasten

off White.



Join Blue, fasten off Yellow.


Fasten off, leaving an 18” length.

Using yarn needle, sew the eye onto hat. Next sew 3 spots on each side of eye.

Pom:

1st Step: Wrap Blue, Yellow and Green yarn around a large glass or piece of cardboard that is approx. 6”wide,

40 times (or more if you want the pom to be thicker).

2nd Step: Carefully remove the yarn from the glass or cardboard.

Hold the winding of yarn closed in one hand, tie a short length of yarn tightly around the hank in the middle,

and knot or slip knot it 2 or 3 times (shown in contrasting color).

3rd Step: Cut the hank open at each end and trim evenly.

Secure the pom to the item by slipping a long piece of yarn through the yarn tied around the center and

knotting to hat top securely.

4th Step: Fluff the pom to finish.
