In order to find novel antiviral agents with improved activity and selectivity, title compounds such as (VII), (IX), and (X) are synthesized. The base used in the electrophilic fluorination step is critical for the yield. The most interesting compound (X) is active against human cytomegalovirus, Epstein–Barr virus and measles with EC 50 values of 5.6, 1.6, and 32 μg/mL, respectively. — (CHEN, WEI; FLAVIN, MICHAEL T.; FILLER, ROBERT; XU, ZE-QI; J.
