Summary

Lungs
Main part of the respiratory system
Takes in oxygen, removes carbon dioxide
Red blood cells drop off oxygen to our body cells
![Page 4: Chelsea's respiratory system](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022062709/55909d2b1a28ab89148b464d/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Larynx
Voice box
What makes us speak
Protects the trachea

Trachea
First thing that oxygen travels through in your body
Filters the air we breathe
![Page 6: Chelsea's respiratory system](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022062709/55909d2b1a28ab89148b464d/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Bronchi
Two separate tubes that the oxygen passes through into our lungs
Divides the oxygen so it’ll fill both lungs
![Page 7: Chelsea's respiratory system](https://reader036.fdocuments.in/reader036/viewer/2022062709/55909d2b1a28ab89148b464d/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)
Bronchioles
Branches in your lungs that oxygen travels through
Also divides the oxygen to fill our lungs

Alveoli
Primary gas exchange units of the lung
Extremely thin, so that the gas exchange is rapid

Diaphragm
Located at the bottom of your lungs
Made up of internal muscle
Helps push out carbon dioxide and is main force for breathing
