CHELSEA’S BEST DAY EVER

By Sam

We are all a little weird and life’s a little weird, and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love.

-Dr. Seuss.

For Chelsea

One morning Chelsea awoke and said to herself, “I have a feeling today is going to be a very good day!” She climbed out of bed without waking a very sleepy Sam and put on her favorite dress.

Chelsea walked outside into the fresh air and felt the warm sun on her face. “What a lovely day for a walk to the water!” As she began walking, however she heard voices coming from the park nearby…

So Chelsea spent some time with the women, helping them eat all of their food and discussing the benefits of natural child birth. But it was getting late so Chelsea started on her way to the water.

It was a maternity club breakfast buffet and the women all looked rather concerned. You see, they had far too much food (even though they were eating for two) and didn’t want it to go to waste. So they invited Chelsea to share their mom-lettes, crepes, and every type of cereal you could imagine, even Cinnamon Honey Bunches of Oats!

As Chelsea walked downtown she passed by her favorite store and decided to take a look inside. As she passed through the door people started cheering and she wondered what had happened. The store was celebrating its anniversary and wanted to thank its loyal customers by presenting the 100th person with a gift basket.

The gift basket contained a moose hat, a moose umbrella, and all types of moose photos and paraphernalia!

Chelsea left the store with her hands full and went on her way towards the water. Walking past a local restaurant, she noticed some people looking rather upset. The owner of the restaurant was arguing with the delivery man. Apparently the owner had accidently ordered 10 times the amount of ketchup he has meant to. With out anything to do with it, the owner angrily started passing boxes of ketchup into the arms of very confused passers-by, including Chelsea.

So with her arms filled, Chelsea continued on her way. “Let me help you with that,” said a voice behind her. It was a nice man with a hand truck. “You can take this and bring it back to me later” “Thanks!” said Chelsea and as she said that her stomach made a large growling noise. It had been a while since breakfast and she was getting hungry. The man noticed this noise and told her to wait one minute. He ran into his house and came back with a plate full of food. “My wife just made lunch, so you’re welcome to have some. It’s homemade pulled pork, and potato salad.”

So Chelsea ate up and pushed her hand cart down the hill where she finally made it to the waterfront. The weather was warm and Chelsea thought a creemee would be the best way to beat the heat. As she stepped up to the window someone tapped her shoulder. Chelsea turned around and saw Sam standing next to her. The two of them ordered their creemees (Sam remembered her lactaid) and found a bench on the water. They sat for a long time and as the sun began to set Chelsea thought back onto what a wonderful day she had. Sam thought, too, about how happy she was to be sitting next to her love, watching the sun set over the water.

So I wait for you like a lonely house till you will see me again and live in me. Till then my windows ache.
