Spreading

goodwillAt this time of year, Glendon students of all years

are awaiting the end of exam and essay time so theycan spend the holiday season with their family andfriends. What many will not be thinking about arethose who will inevitably spend the holidays likeevery other day, hungry and homeless.

Regardless of one's religion or culture it is hopedthat all who comprise the Glendon Family will be ableto share their weeks off with the people they love.Several of us will create valuable memories dLJringthis time when enjoying festive gatherings or simplyrelaxing. It is hoped that all v'iIl have enough to eat, awan.• shelter to sleep in and freedom from socialproblems which affect so many in our societ~·.

Often this is such an overwhelming time of year formany of us, that those living on the street with nomoney, food or shelter are forpotten. The most unfairvictims of neglect and poverty are the children. Theyare innocent. yet they are selfishly punished.

As students, our money is often scarce but fewface the dire situatior. of "Ies dtHavorises". Spendingthe holidays in a vacant warehouse or living on handouts is a far cry from the thoughts of a turkey dinnerwhich sees some of us through the all-nighter beforea final exam.

The less fortunate should never be forgotten at anytime of the year, but as the snow begins to fall andparty invitations and Visa bills come in, let's allabstain from getting the person who has everythinganother useless gift and put that money or time Into alocal charity or food bank.
