CHC30113 Cerficate III in Early Childhood Educaon and Care COURSE OVERVIEW This qualificaon addresses the skills and knowledge required to provide care for individuals and groups of children, and to plan acvies facilitang their leisure and play, enabling them to achieve their developmental outcomes. This qualificaon reflects the role of workers in a range of early childhood educaon sengs who work within the requirements of the Educaon and Care Services Naonal Regulaons and the Naonal Quality Standard. The course is fully accredited naonally recognised training. Under naonal educaon and care regulaons, to work in this industry a person must be studying toward or hold this qualificaon at a minimum. COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however it is expected that students have good communicaon skills and a genuine interest in working with children and their development. Be aware that working in this industry and with children will require you to obtain a Naonal Police Check and a NSW Working with Children check prior to commencing employment. Other States and Territories outside NSW have similar guidelines and if you move around Australia it is advisable to check with local licensing authories. Be aware also that most care facilies and educaon centres will require that workers and educators are physically fit and emoonally capable of working in the environment. This also means that workers do not have a pre-exisng medical condion or a communicable disease that may put the health and safety of the children and other staff at risk. The program runs on a rotang calendar cycle, with students able to commence study at regular intervals and take up to 12 months to complete the qualificaon. Weekly sessions consist of 2 days face to face in a classroom based environment learning the underpinning theorecal components and required knowledge. The remaining 3 days a week are spent doing workplace based placement in a facility to begin learning and consolidang the praccal competencies. Students are required to aend a minimum of 12 weeks full me and complete 120 hours of praccal placement and assessment. COURSE OVERVIEW
