PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
COOPERATION - RESPECT - RESPONSILIBITY - SAFETY PAGE 1
Good afternoon,
The end of another busy year.
As usual it has been a year full of
opportunities for your children.
The year has also seen a huge
change in the business admin-
istration processes of the school
and next year we will be imple-
menting a whole new process of
financial management.
I thank you for your support dur-
ing the year, I understand that
there will always be some deci-
sions that do not make everyone
happy. However we operate on
the premise that any decision
made is for the good of the
whole school, not a minority
group.
Congratulations to our award
recipients from our School

STAGE 3 REPORT
CHRISTMAS TRAIN
On Tuesday 4th December, our School Captain’s Stanley Tan and Milly
Ryan, were invited by Craig Huth (Diceman) from Max FM to partici-
pate in Taree’s Christmas Train. The day was organised to raise funds
for the children’s ward at our local hospital. Many local businesses got
involved, making it a wonderful success. Our School’s P&C kindly do-
nated $100.
Stanley and Milly had a fantastic day. They met at Club Taree with the other invited guests such as Chappo (from the TV show
Bondi Rescue), Morgan Sheather (from X-Factor), Senator John Williams, Dr. David Gillespie, Volunteers Rescue Association
(VRA), Fire Brigade, St.George Dragon, Santa and many more. There were decorated golf carts, motorcycles, buggies and
trucks however our Captains were ushered into a limousine with Morgan. They made their way down Commerce Street, wav-
ing to the crowds, to Manning Base Hospital where they met up with Mike Rabbitt, Paul Lobb, Natasha Beyersdorf and Big
Dog from NBN News, Elizabeth Creasy from Prime and the Manning River Times. It was here that the announcement was
made that over $61,000 was raised by our community for the purchase of an ultrasound machine for our hospital.
Everyone was then taken back to Club Taree for some lunch and a chat with the other guests. They headed to our local nurs-
ing homes - Bishop Tyrell Place, Karingal Gardens and Storm Retirement Village to let them know of the great fundraising
efforts and hand out Christmas presents, sing Christmas carols with Morgan and Santa, hand out
laptops from Noeledge and give out the Christmas cards that our school made. All 260 of them!
A special thank you to Mrs Gay who organised all of those great Christmas cards.
Our school would like to congratulate our community for a wonderful day and for their generous
support.
Maths Competition - Chatham Public School had 85 students compete in the Hunter Region Mathematics Competition
recently. We had a total of 52 students participate in Year 5 test with 5 students (Kaleb Corbett, William Sawyer, Logan Peck,
Stacey Jones and Natasha Waller) awarded with a Distinction and 6 students (Suchanan Sriwongwan, Ashlea Anderson, Jayden
Edmonds, Tyron Campbell, Zac Sheldon and Jakson Collis) awarded a Merit Certificate. There was 33 students in the Year 6
test with 3 students (Reece Ryan, Thomas Kempe and Marylyn Sendah) awarded with a Distinction and 4 students (Daniel El-
liott, Damon Lewis, Teagan Phillips and Taylah Wood) with a Merit Certificate.
Reading Challenge - Congratulations to the 180 students who successfully completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge
this year. The challenge aims to encourage students love of reading for leisure and pleasure, and to enable students to experi-
ence quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely
and runs from February 1st through to September 1st. This was the first year we participated in the challenge at Chatham Pub-
lic School. Special congratulations to Harmony Burton, Chelsea Chapman, Karen Piper and Karlee Felton who received a Gold
Certificate for successful completion for four years having participated at their previous schools.
Only 3 days left until our Year 6 students walk through a tunnel of 330 arms to say good bye to one chapter of their life. Most
students have been here since Kinder and it has been one exciting and enriching journey. On behalf of the students and teach-
ers of Chatham Public School, we want to wish you all the best for next year. A big thank you to Miss Mills, Mrs Goldie, Miss
Anderson and Mr McKenzie for all the work they have put into Stage 3 this year. Congratulations to Kaleb, Gabby, Jesse and
Madi on their success in being awarded the captains/vice captains for 2013.
