Transcript of Character choice
The main CharactersO Laura- Rosie JonesO Dave- Liam WilkinsonO Shanon- Chenga Yvonne O Jake- Hadrian RigleyO Tyrone- Toby Berry
Why Rosie?O We chose Rosie Jones to play the
Protagonist, Laura, in our production. We did this because the fact that we chose a female Protagonist conveys the ideology that women can be strong and influencial; to which we can apply David Gauntlett’s theory of empowered woman.
O Additionally Rosie has had some previous acting experience, has a strong personality and identifies with the character.
Why Liam?O Liam, to us, was a good choice for
the gang leader as he is slightly older than other members in the group and therefore appears dominant. This conveys the ideology of male dominance.
O Liam enjoys acting and has experience.
O He also was extremely reliable.
Why Chenga? O We chose Chenga because she has a
large amount of confidence, which was important for her character as she elucidates the fact that women can be influential and empowered.
O Chenga was available, confident and enthusiastic about our production.
O We wanted the gang to have people of a variety of races to highlight the fact that race was unimportant in our narrative.
Why Hadrian?O Hadrian was originally not a part of our
production but stepped in for Raj. We originally chose him as a back up because he was reliable and lived in the area of one of our filming locations.
O Additionally Hadrian has an interest in the genre of social realism and the ideologies conveyed by our production, such as crime is a problem amongst youths.
Why Toby?O Toby was chosen because he identifies
with the character of Tyrone and with the narrative of the film, despite not having much acting experience.
O Toby also had an interest in the production and the narrative and was therefore good at his role.
O Finally we knew he would be reliable as he had an interest in the film and because we know him well.
