What is a Prairie?· flat or hilly land covered by grass· buffalo roam in groups or herds· not many trees· rain affects the height of the grass - Eastern prairies get more rain, therefore, taller grass than Western prairies.· Rich soil - wheat and oats grow well here

Prairie Life (p. 35)· Since there are no trees on the prairie, animals must find other ways to escape predators.· Prairie Dogs & Badgers dig underground tunnels.· Pronghorns protect themselves by living in herds and being able to run quickly.· Prairie predators are coyotes!
