Students read pages 308-311 and take notes on Post-It Notes.The notes are reviewed in class and then posted into the Interactive Notebook in the quadrants as shown to the right.Students draw an illustration or cartoon under each Post-It Note, that sums up what was said.In the final quadrant, students write a 2-3 sentence summary of this part of the section with a focus on “national unity under Monroe.”

Students read pages 311-315 and take Cornell Notes as broken down to the right.Page 6 should be devoted to the Missouri Compromise and eventual statehood found on pages 311-312.Page 7 is devoted to US relations with Britain and Spain as well as the acquisition of Florida as a new state AND the Monroe Doctrine. All of this is found on pages 313-315.
