You’ll be looked after by the team at Volvo Prestige.
EVERY detail of the Volvo V40 has been
designed with the driver in mind.
From its striking silhouette, elegant,
sweeping roof line, low bonnet, raked
windscreen and discreet rear roof
spoiler, this premium hatch looks tough with an
aggressive, low stance, this hatch is anything
but ordinary.
The V40 offers stunning looks and exhilarating
performance.
It’s the complete package.
Inside, the V40 features large, comfortable
seating for five. There’s plenty of headroom
front and back.
The driving position can be adjusted to suit
your individual style and comfort.
The thick steering wheel feels good in your
hands and everything in the cockpit is in the
right place.
You will enjoy the interactive ‘floating’ centre
console that comes from the larger Volvo
models.
The optional centre screen is big and clear
and entirely digital.
There are three modes of driving available
at the touch of a button - Eco, Sport and
Elegance, which is the standard setting.
In the ‘Performance’ mode, the steering and
throttle responses are sharpened and the central
speedometer changes to a rev counter with
red backlighting.
Who said Volvo’s were boring?
Not the V40.
This car is different in so many ways and if
you’ve overlooked buying a Volvo, take one for
a test drive and see for yourself.
This is a premium-value 5 door hatch at an
affordable price.
The moment you slip behind the steering
wheel of Volvo’s new V40 hatch you know
instantly that this is a classy vehicle and serious
rival to the Lexus CT, Mercedes-Benz A-class,
Audi A3 and BMW 1-series.
The V40 5-door hatch is a sporty, good
looking, refined and comfortable ride.
It is extremely well built and solid.
Build quality inside and out is superb as you
would expect from a vehicle designed and built
by the Swedish giant.
This is a stylish, prestige hatch that delivers
the goods on all fronts.
Volvo expects the V40 series to be the biggest
selling Volvo model globally.
There are three models for the Australian
market, two with diesel engines and the T4
variant comes with a 2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol
engine belting out a healthy 132Kw/240Nm of
torque.
The D2 model has a 1.6L turbo-diesel engine
developing 84Kw/270Nm of torque and is the
most frugal variant of all consuming only 3.6L
of diesel/100km.
The D2 comes with manual transmission.
The D4 model comes with the highly-
acclaimed 2.0L, five-cylinder turbo-diesel
engine developing 130Kw/400Nm of torque
while consuming only 5.2L of diesel per 100km.
This is probably the best overall pick of the trio
because it offers performance with economy.
Both the D4 and T4 models are available with
dual-clutch unit, a conventional automatic and
a six-speed manual transmission.
All the V40 models are front-wheel drive.
The safety factor in all Volvo vehicles is class-
leading.
In fact, it has been adjudged the safest car in
the history of Euro crash testing.
Not bad when you consider the competition
in Europe from the world’s leading luxury car
brands.
The V40 comes with eight airbags, including
an airbag for pedestrians. A world first.
The V40 with the optional advanced safety
features pack includes a pedestrian airbag
system, which deploys along the bottom of
the windscreen and up to the A-pillars and is
designed to cushion the head of a pedestrian
who has the misfortune to step in front of the
vehicle.
The V40 has an intelligent cruise control
system which will brake automatically when
it detects a threat in front when the vehicle is
travelling in slow, peak-hour traffic.
There is also an updated version of BLIS
(blind-spot informative system) that warns of
fast approaching traffic and the rear parking
sensors warn of vehicles approaching from the
sides when reversing.
Park assist is also available with the optional
advanced safety pack and detects whether
the car parking space you intend to park in will
accommodate the vehicle.
All V40 models get dusk-seeking headlamps,
rain-sensing wipers, Bluetooth phone and
audio integration, USB audio input, auto-
dimming rear view mirror, rear parking sensors
and LED daytime running lamps as standard.
When you move up to the luxury range you
get bi-xenon headlamps, powered passenger
seat, soft leather upholstery, sat-nav, reversing
camera and a high-end audio system with 7
inch LCD display.
The driving dynamics of the V40 are very
impressive. On the road the ride is quiet
and refined. You know you’re driving a
superb, luxury vehicle. The paint and finish
is impeccable. All panels fit exactly as they
should. The V40 won’t disappoint.
