Come and join Tracks Brewing Compa-ny for Freedom Fest in July! Freedom Fest is a month long celebration of changes in Utah liquor laws, allowing private clubs to be open to the public. The party starts July 1st when the law officially changes and Tracks can welcome the public. Wednes-day, July 15th is the official “Kick Off ” party. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will be at 11:00am, followed by prize draw-ings every half hour, free menu samples, brewery tours & freshly brewed root beer - all available until 3 pm.

During the day, Tracks will be a lot like other Utah breweries, such as Squatter’s and Red Rock. They brew their own beer

right at their Main Street location and offer a great place to eat lunch and dinner, whether with clients or just a great meal with friends. After 10pm they let their hair down and have fun with a mix of local band and DJ’s, karaoke, poker and national acts like Royal Bliss (coming soon) and The Unauthorized Rolling Stones (coming July 24th). Tracks is proud to offer Tooele a well-deserved restaurant experience dur-ing the day with “Big City” atmosphere in the evening.

Tracks Brewing Company is owned by the Applegate’s, a local family with many strong ties to this community. They have recently brought in a new partner, Cheri M. Watts, who brings with her over 20 years experience in various areas of restaurant management. Her noted ac-complishments include General Manager of Squatter’s - an award winning Brew Pub in Salt Lake City. General Manager of Spencer’s for Steaks & Chops – an award winning Steak House in Salt Lake City, Owner/Operator of Café Bacchus which won Best New Restaurant by City Weekly Readers. We welcome her addition to our family.

Tracks Brewing Company is located at 1641 N. Main St. Tooele and can be reached at 435-882-4040. Operating hours are Monday - Sunday 11 am - 2 am. They have great indoor as well as patio dining. Check out the website at www.tracksbrew-ing.com for upcoming events, promotions and a complete menu.

Triple-T opens on Main St.

Triple-T is a new Tool, Trailer & Truck Accessories store located at 278 N. Main St. in the (Old Napa) building. Triple-T is a com-bination of several businesses. Owner Frank Venditti got the idea for Triple-T from several business contacts in Las Vegas who oper-ate similar businesses. Venditti who lives in Tooele, saw that the Tooele area was lacking a full service trailer dealership. Since he already operates a trailer manufacturing company in Salt Lake, he decided that it was time to expand operations and become his own dealer. The other parts of Triple-T including tools trailer parts and truck accessories are a natural fit. Venditti says “if you like Harbor Freight you will love our tool section”. Triple-T also offers a full welding supply section including bottle exchange and raw steel. “As far as I know we are the only place in Tooele where consumers can buy steel”. Triple-T has just opened but is already seeing the popularity of its trailer parts and acces-sories because that was a market segment which was not being served in Tooele. Triple-T has very strong purchasing power through its manu-facturing company which gives it the ability to sell anything tool, trailer or truck accessory related at the absolute lowest prices. “I know the economy is tough right now that is why value is selling and we have priced everything in our store on the local economy which includes Salt Lake prices”. Venditti says we do our own pric-ing and so that means if we see a lower price on an item or similar item we immediately lower our prices so that we are the absolute lowest prices. “We don’t get our pricing from a corporate or dis-trict office halfway across the country”. If we see lower prices we immediately change our pricing to be the lowest”. So rest assured when you are shopping in our store you are getting the lowest price out there guaranteed.Trailers is by far our best product since we are selling direct from the manufacture to you our prices on trailers are hundreds even thousands below retail. We sell utilities, goosenecks and any flat-bed trailer you can think of and although we are not the manufac-turer of enclosed trailers we are also carrying a good selection of enclosed trailers.

Nightime Donuts is a wonderful bakery located on Tooele’s Main Street. This shop is full of yummy baked goods for everyone! Everything is baked fresh and ready for you at 5 a.m. daily.

Owner and Operator, Jodie Erickson who took over the bakery this year, has always wanted to own a business of her own. She immediately loved the idea to own a com-pany that has been in our town for 22 years and be able to do something she loves. Jodie is married and has two boys, Trevor and Tra-vis. Her family has lived in Erda for about 5 years. Nightime was originally owned by long time resident Patrick Nigh. Their staff consists of about ten employees. One of which is Kathy Hardy-Brown, who is the manager. Kathy has been with Nightime for about 8 years and helps Jodie with all the day to day tasks as well as being the head decora-tor for many of the cakes and pastries. Jodie loves working with all her employees, many of whom have been with the company for many years before the change of ownership. Nightime Donuts offer such a wonderful variety of made-from-scratch donuts, bagels, pastries etc. They also have éclairs, bagel sand-wiches, breakfast sandwiches, custom cakes, homemade cream cheese spreads, real fruit smoothies and a full line of coffee products.

6

Jodie has kept many things the same through the transition of ownership but has expanded the items they offer. They have all the original baked goods as well as custom wedding cakes, custom pastries, etc. Catering & delivery are also available. Nightime Donuts has so much to offer to their customers and are very popular with the local community. They do custom orders on just about everything in the store. With their made-from-scratch items, anything

is possible. If you have a request call Nigh-time and they will help you create your vi-sion. They have a very friendly atmosphere and are a great place to take the family. Nightime Donuts has been serving Tooele for over 22 years and looking forward to many, many more to come. Nightime Do-nuts is open Monday thru Friday 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. They can be reached at 435-882-8503 or come on down and see Jodie and her great staff at 299 North Main Street, Tooele.

increased unexpectedly by an additional five million gallons. “We couldn’t figure out what had caused the increase and therefore suspected broken water lines” said Jay Weyland,

TEAD energy manager. “Several methods were used to search for the waterline breaks but they were ineffective.”Detection methods included observation and isolation which

involved looking for unusually green areas, wet ground or puddles and areas of melted snow; and closing off areas of the water system to see if usage changed. Active detection with the use of the LD-12 Professional Plus Leak Detector finally helped find the problem. The detection of the leaks was no easy task since Tooele Army Depot has 26 miles of main waterlines. “The (LD-12) amplifies the sound that a water leak makes allowing the operator to locate the water leak precisely,” Weyland said. “The team made a series of sound level measurements, and from those measurements they located and repaired several water leaks.”There were 12 water leaks identified in total, with the last leak repaired in September 2008. More than 40 million gallons of water were saved in the first six months of fiscal 2009 when compared with the same time frame the previous year. What started out as one Green Belt project, evolved into three which ultimately combined into what has become a great success story. Anderson was tasked with finding the water leaks and John Hayden was tasked with a water pressure Green Belt. All the findings from the water loss and the water pressure projects were combined into one document

Department of Defense have made exemplary efforts in water and energy conservation.“Using the Lean Six Sigma analytical process, these five members of Engineering and Facilities ganged up to solve serious problems in our (World War II) era water distribution system,” said Chris Tillman, garrison manager. “They developed processes to pinpoint and resolve unexplained losses of water and water pressure and then proceeded to correct the problems. As a result we are saving over eight million gallons of water a month and experiencing f low and pressure levels that will now support future mission modernization. Their accomplishments are outstanding and very worthy of the recognition and awards they have received.”For a group of guys used to working behind the scenes, all the attention surrounding the awards is a bit humbling. “We were surprised (about the awards) because Jay Weyland nominated us without our knowledge,” said Smalling and Anderson, both with the Engineering Branch of the Directorate of Base Operations. “We are very appreciative of Jay for doing this for us and are happy that it has brought great recognition to the depot.”In October of 2007, water production at the Depot

entry-level job placements with lo-cal businesses. The transistional employment program (TEP) is a unique and rewarding opportunity for community employers to employ members of the community that re-quire some additional support on the job. The Clubhouse members and staff develop TEP placement in the community. Once the position is secured, the Clubhouse staff learn the job. Once they know the posi-tion, the Clubhouse members and staff select a member to work the position. This is primarily based on the members desire to work. At that point, the trained Clubhouse staff will train the member on the posi-tion. The staff will remain on the job with the member until the member feels comfortable enough to work the position alone. Once the mem-

ber begins working the position, the Clubhouse staff will continue to of-fer employment support for both the employer and the member. The Clubhouse guarantees coverage for these positions. If the member is ever unable to work, the Clubhouse

staff, who have been trained on the position, will go and work the po-sition for the employer at no cost to the employer. Each TEP lasts for nine months. At the end of the nine months, the Clubhouse selects an-other member to work the position

and the training process be-gins again. Currently, New Reflection House has four transitional employment placements in Tooele Coun-ty and is looking to develop some more. Subway, Tracks, Tooele County Clerks Office, and Valley Mental Health are all employers who sup-port the TEP program. Lynn Prasith, manager of Tooele Subway, has been in-volved in the TEP program

for the past two years. Lynn stated that “transitional employment is a wonderful program and more em-ployers should participate in it. If the member is sick, I don’t have to worry about someone being there. The Clubhouse staff will come and

work the position for me. It is a great relief to know that the position will always be filled.” Not only does the TEP program assist the employer, but it is an invaluable opportunity for the members of the program. Mikel, a member of New Reflection House, is currently working his first transitional employment placement at Tracks. He stated that “I really like working at Tracks. Working helps me deal with my stress and makes me feel good about myself. I like the extra money and that the Clubhouse helps me keep my job.” Hale, who worked a transitional employment placement at Subway, stated “Working is hard and fun at the same time. I had an accident at home and I was unable to work for a week while my body recovered. I called and spoke with the Clubhouse staff and they worked my job for me so that I did not loose it. NRH was a

great support for me.” New Reflec-tion House cannot provide these employment opportunities without your assistance. At this time, the Clubhouse is look-ing to further develop transitional employment opportunities for our members. Please feel free to contact Matt Reed, New Reflection House program director, at 435-882-4845 for more information regarding New Reflection House and the tran-sitional employment program. The Clubhouse is located at 565 West 900 South in Tooele and serves indi-viduals who struggle with long term mental illness in Tooele County. New Reflection House is a certified member of the ICCD, an interna-tional network of Clubhouse mod-eled programs with more than sixty years of experience in mental health rehabilitation. www.iccd.org

which became Russ Smalling’s Water Master Plan Green Belt. “In (the Master Plan) individual responsibilities are laid out and assigned to ensure we maintain the correct standard of water pressure, water usage, maintenance and upgrades,” Smalling said. The Master Plan also boasts a newly updated water map depicting all 26 miles of waterlines on the depot along with other sectors of the water system including water hydrants.“Conservation is part of our everyday lives, if you put it out in the work places as well people may pick up on it and want to join in,” Smalling said. “Being around Jay Weyland has taught me a lot about energy conservation. Now I always find myself shutting the light switch off whether at home or at work. We’ll blame Jay for that; it’s a good thing to be blamed for.”Another contributor to the team’s success was LSS mentor, Gary Hoy, whose extensive expertise enabled the team to effectively accomplish their mission. As the recipients prepare to go to Washington D.C. for the presentation of their federal award, they share the same sentiment about what has turned into a whirlwind of recognition, “we are just trying to do what is best for the depot.”

Diamond Jane’s Assisted Living was built in tribute to the owners’ mother, whose health seemed to be deteriorat-ing with every passing year. Although Jane was reaching her limit she still wanted to remain in Grantsville. At that time there was no facility in town that could accommodate her needs. After the family pondered over every possible choice they decided to take matters into their own hands and build precisely what she needed.

Sadly, Jane passed away in 2006 before Diamond Jane’s was completed. It wasn’t until 3 years later on July 1, 2009 that it would be fully completed in Jane’s sweet re-membrance.

Diamond Jane’s provides 16 spacious units with indi-vidual restrooms and kitchenettes. Their menus are devel-oped by a registered dietician, and prepared by Leanna and Angie in their magnificent modern kitchen. The menus have a nice variety and a lot of f lavor; the aroma of “some-thing good” can be enjoyed by all as these meals are being prepared. They serve a resident recipe once a month so everyone can share their favorite recipe.

Diamond Jane’s Assisted Living is a level 2 assisted living center, so their resident’s are able to “age in place.” This means with the assistance of home health and/or hospice, even those that have declining health may remain at Dia-mond Jane’s. Diamond Jane’s also features an emergency and on-call response system.

Teresa, Brenda, Tina, Jamie, Pat, Nichole, Heather and Stonie are the well-trained and compassionate C.N.A.’s at Diamond Jane’s. One of these ladies is on duty 24/7. Althea is the R.N. on staff to monitor the residents’ well-ness. Tami is the activities co-coordinator; she is develop-ing a variety of activities that are scheduled every day. Exercises 3 times a week and local talent often come to entertain and enhance their day. They have a beauty salon with hairstylist Gwen taking appointments 2 times

per week. There is a large social room for gatherings, visiting with friends or fam-ily, and just relaxing. “Our goal is to provide your loved one with an atmo-sphere that is close to home, and to deliver the compas-sionate care that they de-serve.” ~ Althea

Diamond Jane’s Assisted Living Center is located at 345 S. Hale in Grantsville, Utah.

Diamond Jane’s Assisted Living, located in Grantsville, recently celebrated the grand opening of their new facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony sponsored by the Tooele County Chamber of Commerce. Owners, staff, residents and Chamber members were on hand to join in the celebration
