Volleyball

Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are

separated by a net.

Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other

team’s court under organized rules.

It was invented by William G.Morgan in 1895.It has been a part of

the official program of the Summer Olympic Game since 1964.

Rules of the Game:-

The indoor court dimensions:-

18 m long – 9 m wide, divided into 9m x9m halves by a one

meter wide net.

The top of the net is 2.43m above the center of the court for men

and 2.24m and for women. Line 3m from and parallel to the net

is considered the “Attack Line’’ this 3m line divides the court

into (Back Row) and (Front Row) area.

The Ball :-

Made of Leather, have a circumference of 57-65 c.m, a weight of 260-

280 g.

Starting Game :-

Each team consists of six players. To get play started, a team is

chosen to serve by coin toss.

A player from the serving team throws the ball into the air and

attempts to hit the ball so passes over the net and it will land in the

opposing team court (The Serve).

Each team has no more than 3 contacts with the volleyball to

return it back to the opponent’s side of the net.

The serve:-

The server must serve from behind the end of the court.

The ball must be served under hand or over hand.

The ball must be clearly visible to opponents before serve.

Served ball may graze the net and drop to the other side for point.

If the server team grounds the ball in the opponent court they will

get the point and keep the serve.

If the server team lost the point, the opponent will not get the

point but they will get the serve.

Serve must be returned by a bump only. No setting or attacking a

serve.

Scoring:-

Rally scoring will be use.

There will be a point scored in every score of the ball.

Offense will score on a defense miss or out of bounds hit.

Defense will score on an offensive miss, out of bounds hit, or

serve into the net.

The game will be played to 25 pts, and must win by 2 points.

Rotation:-

The team will rotate each time they win the serve.

Players shall rotate in a clock wise manner.

There shall be 4-6 players on each side.

Team

In every team there are 5 players and they are divided as follows:

1. Team leader, standing at the 6.15 cm line (triple). And his mission is passing the ball and distributing.

2. The Right and the Left wings, and their mission is either shooting from outside the 6.15 cm line and

recording 3 points or attacking with the ball to record two points.

3. The Pivot, his possession is getting the ball if any of the two teams misses the basket. This position is

carried out by two players, one under the basket, called (Flouter) and the other at the foul line and is called

(Post).

4. Guard player, stands under the basket.

Points

Each ball that enters the ring deserves two points, except in two cases, the first is throwing the ball from

outside the three -point area, and in this case it deserves three points, The other is the free -throw which

then deserves a single point.

Basketball errors:

• Walking with the ball: when a player takes two steps carrying the ball with both hands without bouncing

the ball.

• Returning back to the region which is prohibited. It is done in case of attacking and passing the center line

of the court and then back to the defense zone.

• Five seconds: The specified time is awarded to the player to be in the status of implementation of the

throw.

30 seconds: The specified period for the attack, and in the case of exceeding it, the ball is given to the

opponent.

8 seconds: fixed-time for getting out of the defense zone when retrieving the ball.

When the player is in the state of dribble and then catching the ball with both hands, He is not allowed to

redribble and this error is called double dribble

In the case of receiving five errors, the player is dismissed from the game and replaced by another player.

1. From The primary mode, stretch the arms upward.

2. The student pushes forward the ball with a whip movement using the wrist and fingers.

3. The student keeps to this position in order to follow up the pass.

4. Put one foot forward in order to balance your body.

Teaching steps to pass with the hands above the head:

1. The teacher does a model for the skill to show the correct mode.

2. The student holds the ball, taking standby mode and then extends the knees and arms upward with

teacher’s sign until the students get used to lifting the ball.

3. Student faces the wall at a distance of one meter, holding the ball with arms extended high and pushes

the ball with his fingers to the wall continuously, bending the wrists forward during pushing with fingers.

4. Exercise between two students confronted at a distance of 4 meters.

5. The previous exercise with increasing distance and speed.

6. Previous exercise with two competitors of the students, first should be negative and the other positive.

1. Chest pass in basketball

Technical steps:

1-chest pass is performed by pushing the ball simply and conveniently in front of the chest and moving the

ball, heading from front to down then back then high then forward in a circular motion.

2. Pushing movement ends, arms outstretched and hands are moving either down or outward. Foot

movement during this is by stepping forward between the feet, with the transferring of body weight on the

front foot, with slight flexion at the knees, which extends during the performance at the pass.

Applied steps of the chest pass:

1. Performing the movement without the ball.

2. Holding the basketball in front of the chest and making full circles, front, down and front of the chest.

3. Standing in front of a wall two meters away and making circles using the ball in front of the chest and

then pushing it with your fingers in the direction of the wall.

4. Passing between two colleagues from a distance of 3 meters and then increasing the distance and speed

of performance.

5. Previous exercise with the progress of one foot forward during pushing.

Shooting

Shooting from stability - primary mode:

1. Pupils stand confronting the basket by extending the foot similar to the shooting hand (right hand), and

that the distance between the feet allows pupil’s comfort.

2. Pupil puts the ball on the fingers of the shooting hand and arm is bending at the elbow and upper arm

parallel to the floor with bending the wrist back until the ball rests on the fingers of the hand.

3. Other hand works to support the ball from the side so as not to hinder seeing the basket.

Technical performance of the skill after explaining the primary mode:

1. Bend your knees slightly to help pushing the ball to the basket.

2. Stretch the knees and straighten the shooting arm forward high smoothly and with a wrist additional

movement

3. All movements are done in a smooth continuous manner

Teaching steps:

1. Making a model of the movement.

2. Each student takes the primary status of shooting. Correct wrong situation.

3. Students stand in two facing lines. After receiving from the fronting colleague, he takes the standby

mode to shoot.

4. Making the previous step with shooting.

5. Pupils stand confronting the basket and at a distance of not more than five meters, then they shoot make

sure that they take the shooting primary mode.

6. Pupils stand in two lines on both sides of the free-throw line and a competition is held in the free-throw

shooting.

7. Pupils in two lines, the first is behind the ultimate limit and the second before the halfway line .The pupil

moves from midfield to be near the forbidden zone and then stop and shoot .Then his colleague in the final

train receives and passes it to the middle, then stands behind the middle train.

• Dribbling the basketball

Technical steps:

1 - When dribbling the ball, lean the upper part of the body slightly forward with bending the knees and the

arm the right or left forearm is parallel to the floor with relaxing arm muscles, especially when it is in front

area of the field.

2. When you start dribbling, move the forearm from the elbow joint and fix the Humerus, and when you

touch the ball, fingers spread on top of the ball, moving the ball to the top of the ball and move with the

ball upward with moving the wrist up with the ball and then push down again, and so the arm spins

continuously like the continuous wave.

Practical steps to dribbling:

1. Dribbling stability of the normal level with the right hand.

2. Previous exercise, but with the left hand.

3. Bouncing ball with your knees bent fully with the left hand and then the right.

4. Bouncing ball from long sitting position.

5. Bouncing ball of walking ahead and then set aside.

6. Bouncing ball from running position (ahead)

7. Bouncing ball in multiple levels
