Evaluation process
Project to replace the ~600 obsolete network switches (3COM 4400) on the Technical Network (TN) during LS1
HP ProCurve 2910 as main candidate
6 months of thorough testing to ensure performance and reliability.
Including tests:•Performance and feature tests

Conclusion
• Switches are very sensitive to radiation
• Power supplies (internal and external) are clearly the most sensitive parts
• Electrical circuit breakers activated on the wall sockets - probably single event latchups
• Comparison to the previously deployed model does not show a big difference
• As the previously serving switches, deployed in protected areas
• Today 90% deployment rate
