The Centre for Pre-University Studies (CPUS) has a long tradition of academic excellence since its inception as the pioneer school of Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (then known as Tunku Abdul Rahman College) in 1969. The Centre offers 4 pre-university programmes for students who wish to gain admission into universities. The four programmes are the Foundation in Science, Foundation in Arts, Cambridge GCE A Level Science, and Cambridge GCE A Level Arts.

The Cambridge GCE A Level qualification is highly regarded for its quality and is recognised as proof of academic achievement for admission into first degree programmes. The Cambridge International AS and A level syllabi are designed to develop in-depth understanding of subject matter, encourage independent learning, and foster critical thinking, all of which are pre-requisites for success at university and the workplace.

Our home-grown Foundation Programmes are accepted and recognised as entry qualifications for undergraduate programmes offered by TAR UC. The academically rigorous Foundation programmes bridge the knowledge gap between secondary and higher education. The syllabi emphasise both depth and breadth to equip you with a solid foundation for smooth progression into relevant bachelor degree programmes.

Cambridge A Level has made a positive impact on me as I’ve grown so much academically and personally over the past 1.5 years. I have made many friends and our lecturers greatly nurtured us as individuals by not only imparting knowledge to us but by guiding us to become better persons. Each lecturer has his/her own teaching style, which makes our classes more interesting. If you seek for a balance between studies and a vibrant student life, TAR UC is definitely the right place for you!
