Flat Roof

The can be said as the roof top of Central Market, Figure 2.4

showing a barrel vault roof sit-ting on the flat roof of central market. Besides that, it also has a

sheltered food court on it.

Barrel Vault Roof

A barrel vault roof nowadays usually supported with steel structure forming an arch.One of the main reason of

putting this roof onto the flat roof was to allows more

penetration of light into the building to have natural

lighting.

Skylight Glazed Roof

The skylight glazed roof plays an very important rule in conserving energy in the building. Whenever there is still natural lighting, the market will be lighted by sunlight through skylight glazed roof.

The Central Market is actually one of the early energy saving

green building in Malaysia. The main contribution towards energy saving are, introduc-

ing natural lighting into the market, used calorex glass to reduce heat penetration into

building, and using natural air ventilation.
