• There are approx. 13,300 Young People (Yr’s 9-13) who live in Central Beds
• There are 8,690 Young People aged 16-18• Of Young People aged 16-18 who participate in learning –
40% do so outside of CBC • Just 3.7% or 320 Young People aged 16-18 are ‘NEET’ – they
are spread across CBC
• Flitwick ward has the highest number of Young People• Tithe Farm and Dunstable (Manshead) have the highest
proportion of their 16-19 population who are NEET (Just over 7%)

• Year 10 pupils in CBC are less likely to say they never drink alcohol than their peers (28% CBC vs 38% SHEU)
• Year 10 pupils in CBC are less likely to say they are 'quite a lot' or 'a lot' satisfied with their life when compared with their peers (56% CBC vs 65% SHEU)
• Year 10 Pupils in CBC are now less likely to report being a victim of violence or aggression in the area where they live compared to 2008 (11% 2014 vs. 15% 2008)

Our Current Youth Offer (1)
The Central Bedfordshire Youth Offer entitles Young People to access Services which provide them with;
Youth Work & Positive Activities:• Youth work and informal education opportunities• Positive activities• Opportunities to volunteer
Information, Advice and Guidance:• Careers education and IAG delivered to a high standard
• Young People are supported to secure Post -16 education and training opportunities in line with Raising the Participation Age (RPA)

Targeted Youth Support: • Intensive work with young people with complex needs – including
Young People with SEND, Looked After Children/Care Leavers and Young People in the Criminal Justice System
• Early Help (e.g. mentoring provision)• Family support
Thematic Youth Support:• Specialist services such as emotional/mental health, drugs/alcohol
support and sexual health provision• Post -16 learning opportunities – including Apprenticeships and
Traineeships• Support for Young People who are Homeless
