celebrating 5 years of
Ecorazzi was borne from the idea that gossip could be used as a force for good - highlighting the efforts of organizations and people working to make a difference for every living thing on the planet.
Five years later, I’m happy to say that we’ve achieved our original goal, while having a great time in the process. The people I’ve met, worked with, and reported on have changed the way I view the world and inspired me personally to become more involved. I’m proud of the site we’ve become and look forward to further advancing our content, scope, and ability to spark change in the future.
One more thing: A big thank you to our readers. While we provide one side of the story, you’re always there to either expand upon, inform, or provide us with yet another angle to consider. This input is invaluable and the conversations we’ve had have produced some very memorable moments. My gratitude is deep for your continued support of the ‘razz.

Ecorazzi’s fifth anniversary has been a major time of reflection for me. Like most people that fall into their careers, when I started Ecorazzi five years ago with Michael (a green blogger in New York that I had never met before), I never imagined that it would lead to this.
Since 2006, we have published over 10,000 articles covering eco-friendly celebrities, humanitarian issues & animal rights in the media, totally random pop culture stories, and all around Good Gossip. I have had the honor of working with many contributors to the site who are with us because these are topics of passion for them. Each person has been a part of forming who we are today.
Right now, I’m doing some of the proudest and most interesting work of my life. We hope to continue to grow Ecorazzi: our coverage, our audience, and our impact.
Through Ecorazzi, I hope that I have been a small part of making the world a better place. If nothing else, it’s certainly taught me about how many people there are in this world who really care - about one another, the animals, and our planet. That’s my inspiration...!

I couldn’t imagine a day where hearing the name “Ecorazzi” wouldn’t bring a glowing smile to my face. As the senior editor of “the razz” from 2007-2010 I literally grew up with the charming green gossip site.
When I reached out to Michael d’Estries in 2007 to apply for a contributing editor position, I started the note off with something like this: “First and foremost let me say that you have absolutely no reason to hire me.” And he didn’t have any reason.
Less than two months before, I had begun my transition out of a previous career and was entering the world of media as fresh-faced as they come.

With only a handful of personal writing samples to submit – none of which had been published, by the way – I was 99.9 percent sure I would not get the job. But alas. My passion for the issues and, apparently some twinge of skill, had shown through, and just a few
weeks later I was part of the team.
At first, I was writing three pieces a week; by the end of the second month I was contributing three a day. Some afternoons, feeling overly zealous, Michael and I would try to beat our record of 16 posts in one afternoon (8 each). It was totally and completely thrilling.
During those formative years, Michael, Rebecca, and I were a team. Contributors would come and go, but we remained steadfast in our commitment to bringing important environmental and social issues to the world in a fun, sexy, and accessible way. It was more
than a site for us; it was a passion. As Ecorazzi blossomed, so did my career.
No part, and I do mean no part, of my professional life today would be possible without Michael d’Estries, Rebecca Carter, and Ecorazzi.com. It was that trilogy which provided me the steady foundation for a bright future.
As our beloved site turns five, I find myself recalling with great sentiment distant memories, which now seem glazed and sugar-coated: Fox News picking up one of my stories and the subsequent traffic which almost shut down the site; confessing to Minnie Driver that she was my first celebrity interview -- and asking if I had done a good job; publishing a piece without proper research and hearing from the celebrity himself minutes later (today, ironically, we’re friends).
Over the years I’ve been fortunate to hear from hundreds of businesses and individuals who’ve shared with great enthusiasm how Ecorazzi has touched their lives and made a genuine difference. I’m deeply proud to be a part of that glorious transaction and will always consider Ecorazzi my home.

When ecorazzi launched, it was part of a sea change -- largely instigated by An Inconvenient Truth -- that
refocused American eyeballs on environmental issues. That it continues to be a strong player in
the blogosphere five years later is not only a testament to its solid editorial voice, but
to the larger notion that the green movement is not just a passing
fad, but a enduring trend that continues to affect all
aspects of our culture.
At VegNews, we’re obsessed with all-things vegan, and we love the way Ecorazzi reports on both need-to-know and want-to-know news on the green lifestyle. If we had it our way, we’d spend all day browsing its vibrant, expertly written pages—but we’ll settle for an indulgent peek any chance we get (read: every hour). From everyone at VegNews, we wish you a very Happy Anniversary, Ecorazzi. We’re downing Champagne and vegan cake in your honor!

Ecorazzi has been an absolute pleasure to work with over the past few years to raise awareness about
issues affecting our oceans. From their coverage of our events, to highlights of our holiday membership
offerings, to coverage of our various campaigns and initiatives, Ecorazzi is instrumental in spreading our
message about protecting our world’s oceans, waves and beaches for everyone to enjoy.

It’s not enough anymore to simply be famous for the sake of being famous. The public wants to know what celebs are doing for the planet. Ecorazzi opens the door to the who’s green and who’s not amongst the rich and famous.
In a media culture, celebrity rules and Ecorazzi opens up a channel to direct some of that celeb power into positive green energy through eco-awareness and celeb-enviro-illumination.
Ecorazzi has been a game changer. It’s made animal rights and vegan causes fun and cool by associating compassion with stars like Lea Michelle, Jesse Eisenberg and Carrie Underwood. That’s a massive leap forward for raising awareness and motivating people to end cruelty to animals. Congratulations to Ecorazzi on five years of Good Gossip!

I thank the green goddess everyday for Ecorazzi. They are pure genius for melding celeb juice with eco consciousness.
By default of promoting what tabloid fave upped their ethical ante, they inspire millions to make incremental
changes to their lifestyle and diet. Brava ‘Razzi.

Working as a Senior Editor at Ecorazzi has made me a better and more aware person. I think about what I eat and how I live my life more than I ever thought I would, and I can honestly say that’s more than any other website has ever done for me!
I love ecorazzi because they’re the best when it comes to
good, green gossip! I love that they use the power of celebrity to inspire and promote positive change for
a better planet!

We live in a celebrity-driven culture; everyone is interested in what’s happening in Hollywood. But
rather than focus on the latest mug shot or DUI, we focus on how celebrities are saving the
world, and how all of us, even the not-so-rich-and-famous, can contribute and
make an impact. Ecorazzi is about more than just green gossip —
it’s about news that makes you feel good. And I love being a part of
sharing that news.

I’ve only been working with Ecorazzi for the past couple months and it has been such an enjoyable experience. It’s great to provide good, clean and green gossip to readers and keep them informed about their favorite celebrities. Ecorazzi has been wonderful and informative for five years and I can only imagine where it will end up in the years to come!

[Ecorazzi] provides me with
information that means something to me, that I
don’t always find by myself.
I have enjoyed visiting your page though out the years and love that I can share the stories
and articles with friends and family. Please don’t go
away because that would suck.
I love having a source to
turn to for eco-news that is reliable, fun, and positive. It’s the kind of
harmless gossip that satisfies my voyeurism as much as my interest in
how what they’re doing might contribute to the
movement!
