Pillar One: Teacher EducationOngoing Professional Development which includes but not limited to:

1. Modeling and instruction on effective strategies for student learning

2. Presentation and practice with techniques for effective teaching and maximum

learning

3. All sessions tailored to the community needs

4. Emphasis on child centered approach to learning

5. Embedded and explicit Christian education throughout

6. Investigation and integration of required Haitian Professional Development

Standards

7. Haitian government approved certification for participation in professional

development training, including both classroom and practicum activities.

8. Outreach to parents, in response to teacher identified need, in two target rural

communities. Initial phase to identify strategies to support parent education and

engagement on purpose and outcomes for student school attendance and

advancement.

9. Completion of assessment and community development plan to support future

efforts and next steps. Activities to be informed by needs articulated by Haitian

teachers and students

Educational resources that include but not limited to

• Teaching materials such as math manipulatives, books in Kreoyle and and

French, hands on science and math, learning games, music and art supplies,

and early childhood supplies.

• A method for ongoing support and monitoring of teacher effectiveness

• Identification of education programs, curriculum and resources to train

Haitian peer coaches for each school in target communities

• Communication with principals, and Haitian Education Ministry to tailor

staff development to the expectations of the school, the region and the

national goals for the country.

Examples of facility use to achieve community goals:

• A safe meeting place for children and adults

• A multiple-purpose meeting center (worship, education, fellowship, health)

• A garden and a kitchen

• Water, solar panels, technology

• Playground and physical education space

• Early childhood development space (preschool and day care)

A. In partnership with families in the target communities of LaVanneau and Mont

Fleury, develop a long-term strategy for community use of education facilities.

Include activities, programs and opportunities that might include one or more of the

following:

o Education of children and adults for Christian education, agronomy, literacy,

health, and schooling

o Gardens for food, education and community growth

o A place to worship

o A place to play

o A place training adults in a feeding program

o A place for community health programming, including preventive care such

as screenings, immunizations, family health services

o A place for safety in time of inclement weather

o Economic development classes, micro enterprise program development

B. A community where CCH groups activities are planned and integrated so they build

on and enhance each other with the goal of sustainability by the Haitian community.7
