As a youth his experiences in a Japanese concentraon camp and as a migrant to Australia, as revealed in his biog- raphy Let's Look at the Sunset, demonstrated his incredible perseverance and survival skills to achieve his dreams. Rudy Meyer passed away in late 2012 and a scholarship has been created in memory of him and his love of the outdoors by his daughters, Ingrid Corcoran and Vicki Meyer. The scholarship provides a great opportunity for two students 15-17 years old to aend an Outward Bound Navigator Course fully sponsored, the fee for the course is valued at over $2000. This 12 day course held in school holidays is designed to help young people discover, develop and achieve their potenal physically, socially, intellectually and emoonally, and to develop the confidence to face the challenges of school or work. Swimming Carnival As most would be aware our K-12 Swimming Carnival last Friday was called off due to the extreme weather and lightning and the safety of all those present. Canberra Institute of Technology In last week’s newsletter was information on the partnership between the school, the Canberra Institute of Tech-nology and Neoen to offer opportunities to students. Today, students in Years 10 and 11 were provided with information and a permission note. Parents and carers are reminded that numbers are strictly limited and that there are conditions on participation, so return notes promptly if you wish to be considered for this wonderful opportunity. School Maintenance In fantastic news we have been informed that the school has received additional funds from Assets for mainte-nance, with nearly $100,000 worth of maintenance planned to take place through the course of this year. Unfor-tunately, a number of trees are currently being removed from the school grounds this week after being classified as dangerous after a tree inspection by an arborist during the holidays. Borambola Camp This Thursday and Friday our Year 7 students and Peer Support Leaders participate in a two day camp at Borambola Sport and Recreation Camp near Wagga as part of the Year 7 Transition Program. Thank you to Mr Turtle, Mrs Pretty and Mrs Lafsky who will accompany students. STEM This term the school will receive the Secondary Virtual Reality (VR) STEMShare Kit. The school will also be visited by a STEM Share educator who will work with students at both Tirkandi Inaburra and Coleambally Central School on STEM activities. This will follow on from the use in the last term of 2018 of the Primary Virtual Reality (VR) STEMShare Kit. Lots a great initiatives occurring! Finally…. This week I will be attending a Principal’s Conference in Wagga on Thursday and Friday. Our door is and always has been open – whether you are happy, sad or mad. We need to know if we are not doing something right, but I also need to know that you trust our motives and intentions. Everything we do, every single day is for YOUR children. Until next week,
