School Maintenance The progress of school maintenance is progressing well, with the new covered walkway between the Library and Secondary C Block completed. The new addition is constructed of Colourbond steel and looks wonderful compared to the old wooden structure. Next week the external verandah floor of ‘Deni’ Block will be replaced, which will mean the re-allocation of some classes while this work is completed. P & C AGM Last night the Annual General Meeting of the P & C was held and a new committee was elected. Rae Collier stood down after four years as President and Catherine DeMamiel was elected as President for 2020. The other executive office-bearers elected were Lau-ren Pound (Vice-President), Kathy Hardy (Secretary), Monika Burgess (Canteen Treasurer) and Alison Demamiel (Treasurer). One of the first decision taken by the committee was to assist the school with a donation to purchase Meet Manager, a software package used to run our school sporting carnivals. We look forward to the P & C continuing to supporting the school. Finally…. Our door is and always has been open – whether you are happy, sad or mad. We need to know if we are not doing something right, but I also need to know that you trust our motives and intentions. Everything we do, every single day is for YOUR children. Also, give your child the most valuable gift in the world – a good education – so send them EVERY day. We have a great school and it

is such good value for very little money.

Until next week,

Timothy Allen

Secondary Peer Support – Week 2 - Being Strong

This week Year 7 will be focusing on the following topic in their Peer Support groups: Week 2 - Being Strong

Peer Support utilises a strengths based approach to build social and emotional skills for adolescent development. This week stu-

dents have the opportunity to explore the positive things in their lives. They identify their strengths and achievements and also

the people who support them. This is intended to provide a strong sense of purpose and affirmation.

Consideration of their character strengths helps to build a strong sense of self. Character strengths help provide accurate

descriptions of their best attributes and in turn can shape how they behave towards others. Your child may, at times, feel

overwhelmed, by the expectations and broad array of relationships and situations at secondary school. Sharing some of the topics

that they are doing at school can build a supportive bridge between home and school and help allay any concerns that they may

have about secondary school.

Discuss with them what they learned during Peer Support and encourage and reinforce their character strengths. Some of these

may include happiness, kindness, patience, perseverance, honesty and good judgement.

Secondary Peer Support Organiser
