From “Field” to “Integration”As the world top runner, the CC-Link Partner Association (CLPA) takes lead to further open up industrial network.First from Asia, the field network CC-Link has been opening up ever further as CLPA takes the lead to develop and diffuse it globally. As a result of enthusiastic promotional activities ever since the establishment and the certification to the ISO and IEC, the CC-Link has grown into a global standard network. Now, as a solution to the needs for total system optimization that integrates various functions not only control but also device management (setting, monitoring), device maintenance (monitoring and failure detection) and data collection (operating condition), CLPA brings about an Ethernet-based industrial network vision and is making it come to being. It is the integrated network “CC-Link IE” that enables seamless data transfer from the information network layer to the field device layer. Backed up by the technology and proven services accumulated through the development of the CC-Link, CLPA is promoting to open it up further to meet your expectations.
In these globalized times, the manufacturing industry is facing harsh competition while at the same time welcoming opportunities for new development. Advances in information processing technology have given us a clearer image of the future manufacturing industry. In addition to flexibly restructuring the factory's manufacturing process or location according to the market situation and changes in technology, we are also able precisely manage the supplier chain in a broad sense from procurement of materials and parts, product sales and collection. It is said that promotion of this technology is a way to maintain and develop the manufacturing industry in technically advanced countries having a high infrastructure cost. On the other hand, this technology will be the foundation of industrial development especially in areas such as Asia. We expect major developments in the future. The industrial-use network plays a central role in this industrial development, functioning as a nervous system connecting nuclear functions that manage the system terminal actuators and sensors to the general system. This nervous system is not limited to business sites, but instead is incorporated into global activities and will continue to change as it transforms for major system optimization. We hope that the application range of CC-Link, originating in Japan, will continue to increase as an open network. We anticipate further development and diffusion so CC-Link may become backbone technology for future production system structuring.

Through the diffusion activities of the CC-Link and CC-Link IE on a global level, we support vendors and users.Under the motto “CC-Link, the open field network, will become world’s de facto stan-dard”, CLPA was established in November 2000. Ever since, the Board of directors, Marketing Task Force and Technical Task Force have joined forces to help the ven-dors to develop compatible products and the users to build up FA systems.
The Board of Directors consisting of nine firms operates CLPA and decides on major association issues.
Focuses on increasing the number of CLPA members, enhancing the world recognition and expanding the use of CC-Link.
Energetically exhibit at various trade shows and conferences, conduct educational and development seminars, plan and implement advertising pro-grams including enhancement of the home page.
Initiate and develop new specifications including the safety network “CC-Link Safety” and the in-tegrated network “CC-Link IE” that is attracting world attention. Produce needed technical ma-terials such as “Cable Installation Guide”. Eval-uate and develop new specifications for confor-mance testing. Engage in various technical issues. These activities have turned out remark-able achievements.
Focuses on management of related technology and coordinates provision of information to members and outside standard-setting organizations.
Get the membership to CLPA. The members can develop business opportunities and possibilities by receiving services such as support for developing compatible products. The member firms are entitled to obtaining the most up-to-date technological informa-tion and CC-Link specifications for free. In addition, promised support for conformance tests that are essential to establishing reli-ability assurance is available at various sta-ges of developing compatible products.

CC-Link goes further for the better
to the manufacturing sites in the world.
CLPA keeps it advancing. These figures are self-explanatory about the development and growth on the global level. Many member firms come crossing the boarders to join CLPA.
A line of diversified CC-Link compatible products, as many as the number of user voices.
Recognized in the world market, the number of shipped nodes has exceeded 16.92 million.
Though starting with only 134 member firms when CLPA was established, it is expected to reach more than 2595 member firms in year 2015 (as of the end of March). The overseas firms ac-count for as much as 70 % of the memberships, providing a solid evidence that the world has rec-ognized that the field network CC-Link, first from Japan, is to the true global standard.
With the increasing number of vendor firms joining CLPA, the accumulated CC-Link com-patible products is expected to soon reach 1529 in kinds. For the excellent features of these member products to be known and un-derstood, CLPA prepares “CC-Link Product Catalog” and “CC-Link Family Demonstration Panel”.
Centered on the automobile, semi-conductor and liquid crystal indus-tries, the number of shipped nodes of CC-Link compatible products keeps growing. It is expected to reach 16.92 million nodes in year 2015 and is picking up speed even more.
CC-Link, CC-Link Safety and CC-Link IE, ... The world keeps an eye with surprise on the industrial net work first from Japan. As a key measure of our promotion and the best opportunities to exchange more information with more vendors and users, CLPA has participated in trade shows and exhibitions in Japan and overseas. We are going to actively participate in more trade shows and exhibitions of diversified industries to promote the technological understand-ing and propose our future concept that is well-represented by the CC-Link IE.

CC-Link has been certified to conform to the internation-al standards, IEC Standards and SEMI Standards for the semiconductor and FPD industries, JIS, Chinese Nation-al Standards, ISO Standards, Korean National Standards and Taiwanese Standards. Although it was a de facto standard in Japan, now it is recognized as a global stan-dard in name and reality. It meets the conventional re-quirements for open networks, communication compati-bility and diverse lineup of connectable products, and, in addition, can drastically improve the production efficiency in establishment of systems and applications. Its high technological level and ease of use are internationally appreciated.

CC-Link IE Controller network Specifications
A new, in-factory backbone network, utilizing Gigabit Ethernet technology.
Network shared memory for cyclic communication with ultra high speed & ultra large capacity
CC-Link IE is designed to ensure a highly reliable network through the use of full duplex fiber optic
transmission paths, delivering high-speed, large-capacity distributed control.
It’s the new backbone network that provides assured control of each field network.
To achieve stable communication independent of transmission
delay CC-Link IE adopts a token passing protocol for data trans-
mission control.
Each controller passes data to the network shared memory only
when it has the token, ensuring fully deterministic and high
speed real-time comunication.
High speed & reliability by redundant fiber optic loop technology
By adoption of redundant loop topology, each station continues
communication by looping back upon detection of a broken
cable or station error.
This integrated redundancy is provided without additional equip-
ment and without increasing network cost.

CC-Link IE Field can access field devices directly by remote engneering tools, across the network hierarchy.
Devices can be monitored or configured from anywhere in the network, which increases the engineering efficiency with remote management.
Seamless Networking
The safety communication function has been added to the CC-Link IE field network allowing safe communication at the field level.
Allows flexible arrangement matching the device layout by connecting the PLC and Safety PLC with a single network.
IEC061508 SIL3 IEC61784-3 (2010) Compliant Safety Communication Function
Highly accurate synchronization is possible by compensating the delay time in propagating data from the master station to the slave station.
Able to set up not only the synchronization required, but also the information of I/O and sensors which synchronization is not required, on the same CC-Link IE field network.

In addition to high speed 10 Mbps operation, CC-Link is extremely
deterministic. Being able to rely on a predictable, unvarying I/O re-
sponse allows system designers to provide reliable, real-time control.
CLPA provides a “memory mapped profile” that definesdata for
each product type. This definition includes the control signal
and data layout (addressing). Multiple vendors can develop
CC-Link compatible products to match this “profile”. Users are
then able to easily change from one product brand to another
without needing to change connections or control programs.
The maximum overall cable length is 100 meters when 10
Mbps is selected. This length can be extended to 1.2 km when
the network speed is 156 Kbps. The use of cable repeaters
and optical repeaters allows even greater distances to be cov-
ered. CC-Link supports large-scale applications and reduces
the work needed for wiring and device installation.CC-Link significantly reduces the amount of control and power wir-
ing needed in today’s complex production lines. It reduces wiring
and installation costs, minimizes the work needed to accomplish
the wiring and drastically improves maintenance operations.

The RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability) function is another
of CC-Links features. Functions including stand-by master, detach-
ing slave station, automatic return and testing and monitoring pro-
vide high reliability net-work system and allow the system down time
to minimize.

This system automatically conveys metal molds according to in-
structions received from an upper level cell controller. It con-
trols AGV route switching and interfaces with an NC machine
through the CC-Link. The CC-Link network drastically reduced
wiring and the work period. A significant part of the wiring re-
duction was due to the high noise immunity of CC-Link, which
imposed very few constraints on the routing of wires.
This line assembles automobile body with spot-welding and
arc-welding robots. The line consists of 46 PLCs, installed 7 to
8 CC-Link master units in each, and the total 2000 to 3000 of
remote I/O units. The CC-Link reduced drastically wiring and
cost. Also the time needed to do field installation work and wir-
ing was drastically shortened because the easy connection of
CC-Link to each piece of equipment. The efficiency and speed
of the conveyor system was increased due to the high speed
communication to the remote I/O made possible by CC-Link.
This system monitors the automatic operation and alarm condi-
tions for machine rooms and electric equipment rooms. LAN
connections and phone lines enable remote monitoring and
maintenance. CC-Link I/O modules drastically reduce the wir-
ing to air-conditioning units and other electrical equipment.
The high-speed data link allows real-time display of the current
status and error condition of equipment being monitored.

CC-Link IE Controller Networks achieve the communication speed of 1 Gbps. Here, the token method is adopted as the data transfer control method. The token method does not cause any collision of frames in the transmission path, improving the throughput of communication. Therefore, it is optimal for networks where regular schedule communication is required.
