FUN FACTS

The word ‘harp’ comes from German, Anglo Saxon and Old Norse

words meaning ‘to pluck’. 👌

It’s one of the oldest instruments in the world - there are ancient

Egyptian tombs that have paintings of people playing the harp. 🐫

The Harp is also the national instrument of Wales and has an unbroken

line of harpists stretching back to the 11th century. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The world’s largest Harp Ensemble comprised of 420 harpists in a

festival in Paraguay in 2013! 👀

Did you know that Charles the Prince of Wales has his own Official

Harpist? 👑

The ‘Earth Harp’ currently holds the Guinness World Record for World’s

Longest Stringed Instrument, at a length of 291m (957 ft). 📏

Don’t be fooled by these instruments which aren’t actually harps: the Blues Harp and Jew’s Harp are played with the mouth, and the Aeolian

Harp is played by the wind. 🌬
