The CBF monogram is a visual representation of “forming together.”

The hidden cross in the “f” signals that, first and foremost, we are here

to witness God’s work in the world. The custom letterforms are built

using the square, a symbol for foundation and individuality, and the

circle, a symbol for global community and unity.

See page 8 as a reference for how this is applied in the VIS.

The primary and secondary brandmarks should work across all media. The style you choose will depend on the

environment in which the brandmark appears. To ensure the expression of the brandmark is right for its context,

we’ve created a system that includes Pantone color, as well as CMYK and RGB formulas.

NOTES

- Use squares to build line work, rotate them to create interesting angles

- Use the circle as a solid or break up into arcs as shown above

- ALWAYS use bolder, thicker lines when using the squares and arcs. Reference the above shapes for correct thickness.

BUILDING BLOCKS EXAMPLES

The building blocks below inform the behaviors of graphics in the visual identity system. Using squares, circles

and the cross, a wide variety of imagery can be created. Avoid the use of too many complex shapes within layouts,

opting for bold simplicity when creating graphics for the brand.

NOTES

– Colors will always need to be adjusted to suit the medium in use.

– All monitors reproduce color differently, all papers absorb color differently, and all printers are calibrated differently.

– Use the Pantone Matching System to ensure the most accurate color reproduction.

Cooperative Baptist Fellowship colors serve as a foundational palette that works universally across all media.

These colors will unify and balance the brand visually. When it is important to signal CBF brand equity with color

alone, use the primary and secondary color palettes.

STATES & REGIONS SUB-BRANDS COLOR COMBINATIONS

When creating a sub-brand lockup, consider the length of the name. The below demonstrates some lockup

variations across states and regions, as well as sub-brand lockups. When a palette is chosen, refer to the color

monograms below for how to apply each to the sub-brand marks.

B R A N D A R C H I T E CT U R E

NOTES

– Do not alter or change color combinations or their locations within the monogram.

– Always lead with the CBF purple in titling, using color to differentiate the sub-brand or state/region name

– The above relationships between monogram and titling have been carefully considered based on possible naming structures. Refer to these lockup orientations when creating new marks.

PRIMARY TYPEFACE SECONDARY TYPEFACE

Cooperative Baptist Fellowship typography consists of two typefaces: Metric and Plantin. These typefaces should

be used as often as possible. Commitment to these typefaces will create a consistent and strong identity. Reference

the applications section for examples of typeface usage.

WHICH TYPEFACE SHOULD I USE?

– Use Metric Regular and Medium for large and medium-sized headlines, and short paragraphs.

– Use Metric Semibold set in allcaps subheaders.

– Consider Plantin for large amounts of copy when needed.

– Use Verdana and Georgia for office documents when Metric and Plantin are not available.

– Use Lato as a free Google font web alternative if necessary.

EXAMPLES

Photography should emphasize the idea of “Forming Together.” Subjects should appear friendly, at ease,

comfortable and joyful. Scenes should take place at church gatherings, capturing subjects interacting with others,

or out in the community serving others. Feature actual moments that are warm, sincere and genuine. Photos

should portray optimism without being too cheerful or overstaged.

P H OTO G R A P H Y

NOTES

– Use full color photography with natural, bright lighting to add warmth and cheer to a layout.

– Consider one color treatments in CBF purple to create a more serious and sincere mood, or when a photo is used as a background element.
