Reflecting on the Gospel God leads us just as surely the star led the magi to Bethlehem. We are not in control but must trust God’s loving presence and sure guidance. There will be setbacks and challenges before we attain that for which we seek: our everyday lives are filled with obstacles and restlessness which can get us off track. We must “search diligently”: God and God’s will can be found in many circumstances of our family life, work and leisure times. Sometimes we must change course and take “another way”: conversion is an ongoing milestone in Christian living.
This feast day of the Lord’s epiphany reminds us that the Light of Christ is a diffuse one; it permeates all the world and diffuses salvation everywhere. Our response: give of the treasure of our hearts.
now, and the results are very satisfying, and the work is very rewarding. We are open on esdays and Thursdays from 1000hrs to 1400hrs. We could do with a few more helpers to serve light refreshments and meals, so that not everyone has to attend every day. Also, of course, there are significant running costs to cover, so donations would be very welcome. One way to donate is to become a 'Friend of the Homeless', which involves a modest annual commitment. With the impending CTIC Winter Night Shelter Scheme, coming in to effect in a few weeks time, inflatable beds and sleeping bags will be needed, so any of those you may have, surplus to requirements, would be gratefully received. Many thanks to those who have helped us so far, and to those who are helping in various ways. For more information, contact Helena, in the Office, or Bernard or Judy on 258097"if you would like to make your donation by cheque, or if you wish to make a regular donation to the Fund by

A BACKGROUND TO MODERN THEOLOGY Father Michael Morton from St. Winefride’s, Sandbach is running a series of talks on 21st 7:30pm at St. Gabriel’s, Alsager; 28
th February 7:30pm at St. Anne’s, Nantwich and 7th March 7:30pm at St. Mary’s Primary School. These talks will explore the changes in theological thinking that have taken place in the 19th and 20th centuries – a period of radical political, economic and social change that has impacted enormously on the moral landscape of our times. Full details can be found on the noticeboards ‐ flyers are also on the table in the porch.
FROM THE PRESBYTERY Happy New Year! We have much to look forward to over the coming months in this Year of Mercy. Our first major fundraiser will take place at Saint Thomas More Catholic High School on Friday 22nd January where much fun is sure to be had. This fundraiser for our Parish Centre is well supported each year, so get your tickets as soon as you can. We are facing a slight setback with the bore holes on the Presbytery Lawn. The contractors hope to alleviate the problem in the coming weeks. We are now awaiting the final cost of the build which I have set within the region of £500,000. Our Buy a Brick campaign will begin when the cost is estimated. We are nearly £80,000 away from approaching the diocese for the loan to allow the project to get underway. It looks like 2016 will be a great year for Saint Mary’s Parish Centre.
With every prayer and blessing for the week ahead.
