Welcome letter to candidates Thank you for expressing your interest in leading our Catch22 include School community at PPP West London and joining our national family of school leaders as one of our Headteachers. The Candidate Information Pack provides an overview of Catch22 and our national education programme and I should like to take the opportunity to provide an insight into our Schools. Our whole staff team across Education is rightly ambitious with a purpose, proud of its many achievements and driven in its determination to establish and build truly brilliant schools. We operate with one primary goal in mind which is to ensure that vulnerable and disenfranchised children receive the very best academic and therapeutic education in order to reengage them positively with learning and future life aspirations. Across our Catch22 include Schools our collective moral purpose and professional duty remains to ensure that children from some of the most troubled and challenging backgrounds enjoy and benefit from a high-quality academic education whilst at the same time being properly supported through psychiatric and therapeutic input which is of the highest standard. Consequently, our curriculum gives equal strength to securing the best possible academic and personal development and behaviour outcomes. Catch22 include Schools serve young people aged 4-18 who are ‘outside of mainstream education and we aim for every young person we work with to reach an outcome threshold that enables them to succeed in sustained education, training or employment. Ultimately, our impact is measured by a great set of learner outcomes, ultimately: • Achievement of meaningful qualifications and relevant skills ( 5 accredited qualifications including English and Maths, with the aim of achieving GCSE

or equivalent level 2 qualifications). • Ability to progress and succeed in sustained education or employment.

We do this by providing a place for learners to re-engage with their education and help get their learning and personal development including behaviour back on track and support them into their destination. We have recently restructured our Executive Leadership Team in order to develop best practice and improve standards through specialist national roles:

partnerships and collaborations, curriculum, teaching, learning and assessment and behaviour, personal development and welfare. Working collectively and

collaboratively with our national team of Headteachers and their respective Senior Leadership teams our capacity to improve is strong to drive the Catch22

include Schools forward.

We are impactful through empowerment and development of distributed leadership across the Catch22 include school programme and by forging teams of colleagues with distinct responsibilities to hold each other to account, drive school improvement and achieve best possible outcomes for learners for example via our Headteacher Forum, Curriculum Steering Group and Joint Professional Development workshops. As system leaders our Headteachers are also catalysts for social change through developing outward facing Catch22 Schools which work with other schools and organisations in a climate of mutual support and challenge. A key priority in 2017/18 for Improving Governance will be achieved by the development of Local Advisory Boards. it is both a privilege and humbling to work with our learners and families. At Catch22 we all hold positions of unique responsibility and as consistent role models colleagues are rightly proud of the important work and positive impact on lives and life chances of our children and young people we serve. Most importantly we have high expectations for our learners and a determination for ‘getting it right’ with our learners and their families. Should you be successful in this application, you will find yourself joining an specialist provision that fully unified with the Catch22 family of services (Social Justice, Children and Families, National Citizen Service and Employability and Apprenticeships and Vocational Training) and going forward there are many opportunities to leverage expertise and support for our Headteachers and School Leadership Teams and strengthen a unique ‘joined-up’ offer for our learners e.g. pathways through to Study Programme and through to Apprenticeships and Vocational training employability programmes as well as enriching our SMSC curriculum with a National Citizen Service offer. We are looking for a colleague who is passionate about working with children and young people of all abilities and has already displayed the talent and drive required in delivering outstanding leadership. The successful candidate will need to be able to model exceptional practice when working with troubled children and young people, a pragmatist, a visionary and someone who sees through to full completion the initiatives that they implement and lead. We are looking for someone who is resilient enough to thrive in the challenging environment of leadership and deliver outstanding outcomes for our learners. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to a DBS check and satisfactory references. Thank you for showing in an interest in joining our team at this exciting time. I look forward to receiving your completed application. Jane Reed, Executive Principal of Education at Catch22

ABOUT CATCH 22

Catch22 is a social business, a not for profit business with a social mission. For

over 200 years we have designed and delivered services that build resilience

and aspiration in people and communities.

As a social business we have the heart of a charity, and the mindset of a

business.

GOOD PEOPLE

This is about putting the human connections and relationships back into public

services. This thinking applies to the whole range of things we do to help people,

whether they are young or adult offenders, care leavers, apprentices, children or

whole families. Our experience teaches us time and time again that what makes

a difference in people’s lives are strong and meaningful relationships with good

people who care.

OUR VISION

Catch22 exists to ensure that a good place to live, a purpose and good people

around them are achievable for everyone.

We deliver at every stage of the social welfare cycle, supporting 30,000

individuals from cradle to career. We work with over 80 local authorities and

other commissioners to deliver public services that meet local needs.

Today we deliver children’s social care, alternative education, apprenticeships

and employability programmes, justice and rehabilitation services and personal

and social development programmes.

Our vision is a strong society where everyone has a good place to live, a

purpose and good people around them. We exist to ensure these are achievable

for everyone, no matter what their background.

We believe it’s quite simple: access to these three basic things is fundamental to

transforming lives and communities.

Catch22 include schools helps vulnerable young people with challenging behaviours

to realise their full potential.

With extensive experience of delivering services to children and young people who

have experienced difficulties in mainstream schools and whose education has irre-

trievably broken down, we support learners to achieve academic and vocational tar-

gets and progress into education, training and employment. This approach delivers

significant long-term benefits to learners, parents and carers, communities and local

authorities.

Our independent schools and a range of tailored support programmes are targeted

at young people who fall into high risk groups in all key stages, including those who

are excluded or at risk of exclusion from mainstream schools or Pupil Referral Units

(PRUs), and those with social, emotional and/or mental health needs (SEMH) or

special educational needs (SEN).

CATCH22 INCLUDE PPP WEST LONDON

Catch22 include PPP West London provides education, mentoring, counselling, family sup-port, accredited learning and work-related learning. Education is delivered through individualised packages that meets very specific needs. Learners may have complex needs including social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and autism spectrum disorders (ASD). We also support learners who have just arrived in the country and who are hard to place. We offer a child-centred, holistic approach to education, moving away from mainstream methods with which learners have had difficulties in the past. Through the provision of an alternative educational experience, the behaviour of learners is transformed, allowing them to access the curriculum both socially and academically. We have 60 places for learners in years 9, 10, 11 and 12 across three sites in Brentford, Acton and Ladbroke Grove. APPROACH Learners can follow an intensive GCSE pathway or a project GCSE pathway. Groups of 15 learners are led by a key worker (group and family worker) with input from a teacher and mentor. The focus is on unblocking the various barriers to learning with which each young person struggles, releasing their potential. Learners have the opportunity to undertake Gateway diplomas and awards, as well as voca-tional courses in construction, catering and screen printing. They also have access to fort-nightly sessions with a Connexions personal adviser. The staff team work closely with families to reinforce the work with learners in school and at home. This is key to sustaining a learner’s behavioural improvements, so they can make the most of opportunities available to them. We also run a mentoring course, parenting work-shops and community projects, all of which offer support to parents, carers and the wider community. YOUTH TRANSITION NETWORK The Youth Transition Network (YTN) is aimed at 16 to 24-year-olds from Ealing, Hounslow, Hammersmith & Fulham and surrounding boroughs. Our aim is twofold:

• We assist young people in gaining employment, training and educational opportunities. Through one-to-one personalised action plans and regular meetings we assess literacy, numeracy, IT and employability skills and progress the young people through job readi-ness sessions, focusing particularly on CV preparation, interviews, job search and under-standing the expectations of employers

• We encourage and support young people to build up their own network of contacts and organisations in their boroughs and confidently access services that can assist with any barriers to education, training and employment.
