Catch Wrestling Alliance Announces the FirstCatch Wrestling Based Scholastic WrestlingProgram!For Immediate Release
LOS ANGELES -- The Catch Wrestling Alliance makes history again withthe creation of the first Catch Wrestling based youth wrestling program in
the creation of the first Catch Wrestling based youth wrestling program ina public school. The program is part of the Emerson Sports Academy atRalph Waldo Emerson Charter Middle School in West Los Angeles. Thegoal is to create scholar athletes in accordance with the Pyramid ofSuccess created by legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden. Tobe part of the program, children must maintain a grade point averageabove 3.0 in addition to doing extra school work.
The program is coached by Dr. Raul Ramirez main organizer of the CatchWrestling Alliance. “We will focus on takedowns, rides, pins, escapes,reversals,” Dr. Ramirez explained. "With a Catch Wrestling base, awrestler can easily transition to other styles of wrestling like folkstyle,freestyle and submission grappling. We will be giving them a competitiveedge that will make them wrestling standouts."
Catch as Catch Can Wrestling, or Catch Wrestling is the base style ofmodern folkstyle and freestyle wrestling, yet the latter styles haveevolved into different sports due to the addition of point systems andmany rules. The significance of this program is that middle schoolchildren will be learning authentic Catch Wrestling fundamentals that arenot taught in any scholastic wrestling program in the United States.These fundamental techniques equate to a lost art that can make onegreat at all styles of wrestling and submission grappling.
Dr. Ramirez is an experienced Catch Wrestling coach that has over 15years of martial arts coaching experience. He wrestles for Snake PitWigan the birthplace of Catch Wrestling and is undefeated in internationalCatch Wrestling competition. He just got back from teaching the nationalfreestyle wrestling team of Singapore where his Catch Wrestlinginstruction was well received.
Dr. Ramirez also coaches in a private studio located in Culver City,California called, Catch Wrestling Los Angeles.
