CATCH WEIGHT FOR MICROSOFT DYNAMICS™ AX Scalable Data Systems® value-added module Catch Weight Management is designed specifi cally for and fully integrated with Microsoft Dynamics ™ AX.

Key Features:■ Addition of a second unit for recording stock quantities.

This unit is the primary unit for defining the quantity for every goods handling process. The standard AX unit is required primarily for valuation and costing purposes

■ Option of a fixed or variable conversion factor between each of the two stock recording units

■ Specification at the stock item level of whether the conversion factor is fixed or variable

■ Ability to include the logistics unit on AX forms that affect stock quantities

■ This complements normal AX functionality which allows stock to be purchased and sold in different units from the stocking units

Catch Weight Management is designed for organisations that have a need to keep track of stock in a second unit (such as cartons, bags, crates, pieces, gems etc.) for logistics purposes as well as normal stocking units which are used for valuation, costing and pricing (such as kilograms, pounds, each, pieces etc).

This module is designed for use in many industries including the food industry in areas such as meat and dairy products, and the jewellery production industry.

In the food industry, it is possible for the weight of products to vary in storage due to biological or environmental reasons. Catch Weight management addresses the need to accurately control stock values for these items.

The use of this module is not limited to the food and jewellery industries. It is useful for any organisation that needs to specify a different unit of measure for goods handling processes from the normal stocking units - which are still required for valuation and costing purposes.

The addition of this second stock recording unit complements the normal functionality for Microsoft Dynamics ™ AX in which stock can be purchased and sold in different units from the stocking units.

When items are purchased, the logistics quantity can be entered as well as the normal purchasing units. A default value will initially appear for the logistics quantity based on the quantity entered in normal purchasing units. This default quantity can then be altered, if “variable conversion” has been specified for this stock item.

The purchasing units are first converted to normal stocking units and the normal stocking units are then converted to logistics units. The logistics units can then be over-ridden where applicable.

When stock is transferred internally, both the logistics quantity and the stock valuation quantity can be entered.
