RX2 RANGE ROCKING DISCONNECTORSUP TO 15kV

QUALITY AND LONGEVITYAll switch components are manufactured from corrosion resistant materials.

Contacts are designed to allow short time currents of up to 25kA for 3 seconds. The RX2 range can be supplied with fault make arc horns, meaning the switches are able to withstand fault making currents up to 25kA peak.

All current carrying components are manufactured from hard drawn high conductivity (H.D.H.C.) copper and have a hard nickel plated finish, giving a life expectancy of up to 40 years. Contact pressure is maintained by stainless steel conical springs. Pressures are set during final assembly at works and require no further adjustment or maintenance.

The MLE load break arc chute has been designed for quenching arcs formed when breaking loads of up to 630A. As an indication of their reliability they are fully tested to IEC 60265:1998.

All MLE disconnectors are suitable for use in the harshest of environments, including areas with high pollution, salinity and humidity.

COST EFFECTIVESignificant cost reduction has been achieved through the design and development of the load break arc chute.

Due to the reliability of our products, we do not normally recommend spares for any of our equipment. However, should spare contacts, insulators, or other components of any nature be required, these can be provided in a short period of time, if required.

ADAPTABILITYThe RX2 range of air break switch disconnectors is available in a number of options. The fitting of MLE arc chutes makes the RX2 a load break switch. A wide variety of fuse arrangements can be fitted to meet the requirements of most distribution systems.

OPERATIONLow level dependent manual operation can be achieved through the use of our standard manual mechanism. Where required, our low level motor mechanism may be used. High fault make situations require the use of our low level independent manual spring assisted manual mechanism. Manually operated high level hookstick mechanisms may be utilised where lack of earth mat or vandalism may be a problem. In order to allow for remote operation, these may be replaced with our high level motor operated hookstick mechanism which can be fitted with Remote Terminal Units (R.T.U.’s) in order to allow for remote operation.

MOUNTING ARRANGEMENTSThe disconnectors are available in single, double, or triple pole form as standard. Multiple arrangements are available at special request. They are suitable for horizontal or vertical mounting on wooden, steel or concrete poles. When vertically All ferrous metal parts and mounting steelwork have hot-dipped galvanised finish.

EARTH BLADESAll equipment can be supplied with mechanically interlocked earth blades on ‘Live Side’ or ‘Dead Side’ if required. By fitting spring closing mechanisms fault-making capability of 25kApk can be achieved.

RX2 RANGE ROCKING DISCONNECTORSUP TO 15kVDISCONNECTOR-FUSES AND SWITCH-FUSES The basis of this equipment is the type RX2 load break switch. This equipment can be combined with a variety of fuse arrangements to meet the requirements of most distribution systems.

TRIP-ALL PHASE UNIT (T.A.P.) To overcome the problems associated with ‘single phasing’ caused when only one fuse in a supply blows, MLE have developed a unique system. The design is designated a ‘Trip-All Phase Unit’ (T.A.P.).

The principle of operation is that in the event that one or more of the T.A.P. fuses blow, the fuse (or fuses) will swing downwards and strike a tripping bar. The tripping bar will release a spring-charged mechanism which in turn will open the switch and isolate all three phases. The switch can also be operated manually for normal switching operations.

On the RX2 range, the tripping mechanism is an integral part of the switch.

Standard on the RX2 range, the manual reciprocating mechanism has padlocking facilities in the open and closed position. Key interlocks may be fitted as optional extras, and through the use of an optional auxiliary mechanism, up to ten normally open and ten normally closed auxiliary switches, anti-condensation heater, and an electrical bolt interlock (E.B.I.) may be included.

Independent manual operation can be achieved either through the use of spring assisted operating rods or our spring mechanism, which has been adapted for high fault-make currents. Powerful closing springs and position locking devices prevent bounce and throw open by short-circuit forces encountered on closing.

In cases where an auxiliary supply is available, the optional motorised mechanism allows for local and remote operation driven by hard wired reliable relay logic. Wiring can accommodate specific electrical interlocking arrangements, and optional auxiliary contacts, anti-condensation heater, and an E.B.I. may be included. In areas where an auxiliary supply is not available but remote operation is required, our self contained battery operated mechanism is available.

Pole-mounted hookstick mechanisms offer a very reliable, vandal-resistant and relatively maintenance free form of operation. The low-level manual variant is self-latching, can be fitted with an optional safety lock and may be supplied as a retrofit item to replace other types of operating mechanism.

The high-level motorised variant is designed for installation above climbing guards and can be fitted with an R.T.U., extended life batteries and an intelligent charger/monitor.
