PERFECT SOLUTIONS FOR GAS ALARM SYSTEMS
A matter of concentrationWherever combustible or toxic substances are stored, bottled, processed or transported, the hazard po-tential caused by gases and vapors is particularly high. Proper planning and installation of gas detection systems can, however, significantly reduce the risks to humans and plants.
Gases and vapors are potentially always dangerous.
If gases do not exist in the composition that is familiar and respirable for us, then safety is at risk. Even more: All gases are potentially dangerous, in liquefied, compressed as well as in their normal state – the decisive factor is always the concentration.
Basically there are three hazard categories
Combustible Gases (EX) Danger of explosion Toxic Gases (TOX) Danger of poisoning Oxygen (Ox) Danger of suffocation due to oxygen deficiency Fire hazard due to excess oxygen
Without technical aids human beings usually do not have the ability to recognize these dangers at an early stage in order to take defensive measures, because our nose as a warning instrument has proven itself to be highly unreliable.
Gas alarm systems therefore have the task of detecting hazards from toxic or combustible gases and vapors and to protect people, plants and the environment by means of appropriate measures. MSR-Elec-tronic proves to be the perfect partner for plant operators.

Standards and Guidelines As safety technology products gas detectors for industrial use must, in addition to legal requirements (explosion protection, electromagnetic compatibility), comply with further standards, so that even under harsh operating con-ditions the product quality and the reliability of the gas detection devices will be guaranteed.
Explosion protection standardsDesign requirements ensure that the gas measuring device cannot turn into an ignition source.Globally accepted standards are CENELEC (ATEX), CSA, UL, GOST etc.
Protection classes According to EN 60529 (IP-code)The IP-code provides information on the extent of protection of the housing against foreign objects and water.

PERFECT SOLUTIONS FOR GAS ALARM SYSTEMS
Industrial applications for fixed gas detection
Safe Protection in Extreme Conditions
BIOGAS PLANTS: CH4 / H2S / CO2 / O2
PETROCHEMICAL INDUSTRY:CH4 / C5H12 / C3H8 / H2S / O2 / CO / NH3
PRODUCTION INDUSTRY: O2 / H2S / CO / CO2
When operating biogas plants, in addition to process optimization, personal protection and plant safety are of crucial importance. MSR-Electronic offers intelligent devices for the extension of process optimization and operational safety of your biogas plant. Through early detection in hazardous areas you can prevent damage or contain existing ones.
In the chemical and petrochemical industry a permanent monitoring of rooms and plants, in which explosive at-mosphere may occur, is needed.
For personal protection a constant TLV monitoring of to-xic gases and vapors is required. In addition, monitoring of lack of oxygen or oxygen surplus must be carried out.
In many producing industries health hazardous gases are used. In order to protect workers in these areas effec-tively, the ambient air must be continuously monitored on the concentration of toxic gases or on the dangerous decrease of oxygen content.

GAS INDUSTRY:CH4 / H2S / CO2 / O2
WASTE DISPOSAL: CO2 / H2S / hexane / benzene / toluene
MILITARY CAMPS: CH4 / H2S / CO2 / O2
All companies that deal with the production and proces-sing of gases need extra protection against explosions or poisoning of the people working there.
Stationary gas warning devices are regulated by the Ger-man Association of Gas and Water (registered organizati-on). The continuous monitoring and storage of measure-ment values serve the primary explosion protection and thus the safety of the plant.
Personnel in the utility and waste management indust-ry are in many areas exposed to risks due to gases.
In sewers a decrease of oxygen in the air can occur whereas in disposal sites toxic or explosive gases can arise. In addition it may be necessary to detect dama-ges or leaks in pipelines.
Extreme conditions and the highest security level always prevail in military camps. In the meantime many sensors and technologies took over the surveillance of military installations and military camps, because they are much more precise and always ready for operation. This also applies to monitoring of tents and facilities against toxic gas attacks.

The gas controller series XGC-80 is designed among other things according to the EN 50545-1 and can accommo-date up to 128 gas sensors which monitor and evaluate 96 PolyXeta®2 digital and/or 32 analog (4 to 20 mA) sen-sors. Per sensor four freely adjustable alarm levels are available. For alarm signals the controller system has up to 32 alarm relays with potential-free changeover contact and up to 16 analog outputs with 4 to 20 mA signal. Freely adjustable parameters and set points enable the flexible use in the gas detection technology. The simple and com-fortable commissioning is also possible through the configuration with standard parameters.
The configuration, parameterization and operation are carried out via a logical structured, easy to operate system menu directly at the controller, without special programming skills. The XGC-80 EasyConf software allows loading, modification and storage of the application parameters via a serial interface.
The XGC-80 series is equipped with self-monitoring, a power failure signal and function monitoring of the regis-tered digital / analog sensors and modules according to the requirements of the gas detection technology. The gas controller system is also available with a battery-based, uninterruptable power supply including undervoltage con-trol. Optionally a data logger for logging of measurements, alarms and fault messages is available. For connection to a master control system different interfaces and protocols are available.
