SHELL - ECO MARATHON

CHALLENGE

The Shell Eco-Marathon is a competition that challenges 3000 studentsto drive as many km’s possible on 1 liter of petrol. Never before, the Shell Ecomarathon was a public event. Shell requested the Dutch creative agency BrandBase to design a 4 day interactive exhibition (‘The Lab’) where visitors can learn about energy and innovation.

Energy Floors was asked to create an interactive installation that edu-cates visitors about energy, sustainability and innovation. The exhibit should be fun, entertaining and engaging at the same time.

SOLUTION

Energy Floors installed an energy generating dance floor, consisting of 100 tiles with a total surface of almost 60m2, in front of a DJ booth. The energy dance floor was fully integrated and build into a large exhibition booth.

To create a unique experience where visitors were truly engaged, we connected different Energy Applications to the floor: A large interac-tive LED-Battery, a Digital Energy Meter, an Energy Photo Applicatio n and 100 Headphones connected to the DJ.

A great set up engaged the visitors in an interactive energy experience.

The dance floor of 100 modules was installed within one day.

SHELL - ECO MARATHON

Energy Applications to create the Energy Experience:

A 2,5 meter high LED battery is being ‘charged’ while visitors are dancing on the floor.

Once the battery was charged, the camera ook a photo of the crowd.

Energy is flowing to the earth once the floor is danced upon, while the earth is functioning as an equalizer. The visual interacts with both the data ánd the energy that every separate module generates.

No dancing without music! The headphones Energy Floors provide create an intimate party atmosphere, without disturbing other exhibitions.

RESULTS

The Sustainable Dance Floor installation was combining innovation, ener-gy and a great experience in the most successful way. The dance floor was attracting almost 40.000 visitors who kept on dancing to get their picture taken. Sometimes multiple times! The installation was mentioned in vari-ous media that published about the Ecomarathon.

Customized visuals and animations interact with the data from the floor.

SKODA - PARIS MOTOR SHOW

CHALLENGE

For the Paris Auto Show 2010 Skoda Car appointed creative agency becc to design an exhibition stand with the main focus on sustainability to launch Skoda’s first electric model: The Octavia Green E Line.

The design and communication strategy needed to fully meet the objec-tive of sustainability and brand activation, which lead to Energy Floors.

Energy Floors was asked to provide an installation which clearly showed the power generation by movement on the floor and build a connection to the electric car in the booth.

SOLUTION

The Energy Dance Floor was fully integrated in Skoda exhibition booth in a custom designed shape. To create a sustainable and entertaining expe-rience for the visitors, several Energy Applications were added like Energy Read Outs, visuals in the background with a meter and LED light tubes.

Every 30 minutes professional dancers started an energy dance perform-ance that attracted visitors and press to the Skoda stand.

Dancers attracted visitors by charging up the floor with their energy dance.

The Skoda stand was completely designed with the goal of sustainability.

A big screen in the background showed a live feed and an equalizer.

Energy Read Outs next to the floor display the power produced.

Energy Applications to create the Energy Experience:

Custom designed Energy Read Outs that indicate how much power has been generated on the dance floor.

Visuals of an energy equaliser were mixed into the live video footage on a large LED wall behind the dancers.

A LED light tube connection that indicated that the E-car was charged by the dance floor. Movement on the floor triggered the LEDs in the tubes and built a cool sequence of lights towards the car. A large plug connected the dance floor with the electric car.

RESULTS

With more than 1.2 million visitors during the trade fair and eye- and ear catching shows every 30 minutes, the Skoda exhibit was visited by many. Skoda was very satisfied with the clear connection between the car, the energy and the movement of the dancers.

PICO - EXHIBITOR 2012 4-8/3/2012 Pico

CHALLENGE

Pico is one of the leading marketing and communication firms in the world with a strong presence in North America, Europe and Asia.They specialize in exhibition design and activation campaigns for many big brands like Barclays, MC Donalds, Coca Cola, Nissan and Renault.

Each year Pico presents themselves to existing and potential clients on the Exhibitor fair in Las Vegas; the most important fair for exhibition de-signers. This year Pico decided to integrate the SDF™ in their stand to activate their message. Their goal was to show the innovative and engaging character of the company and get people to participate in an interac-tively in the booth.

SOLUTION

The SDFTM was built in the stand of Pico and a custom made Energy Experience showed the public Pico’s works in various locations on differ-ent continents. Energy Floors delivered a Photo Application as well as the ‘activation’-visuals on the screen.

Each day, at a certain energy level, a lottery was held and one of the clients that had danced on the floor won an IPad.

Energy Applications to create the Energy Experience:

Once people on de the floor reached a certain energy level, visuals showed how a continent was ‘activated’ and a picture selection of Pico’s projects appeared on the screen.

At the 100% level a photo of the people on the floor was taken and sent directly to the Pico facebook page.

RESULTS

Although the general assumption is that people are not dancing during trade fairs, this proved to be untrue once more at the Pico exhibit. Visi-tors were challenged to move on the floor by receiving a reward on the screen. These rewards were smartly combined with the activations of Pico, making a visit to the stand energizing ánd informative!

Since the SDFTM and energy Experience were a big hit Pico is now imple-menting our energy generating floor in proposals for a selection of their clients.
