In December 2013 Pathway Medical Staffing (soon to be Medical Staffing Network:

Beyond the Bedside) surveyed nearly eleven hundred case managers and beyond the bedside healthcare professionals in the fifth annual “Career Resolutions” survey.

While many participants resolved to exercise more, live a healthier lifestyle and spend more time with family in the New Year, most cited a career change as their number one resolution for 2014.

look for a new job this year, the

highest percentage in the five-year history of the survey.

Further education

has been the number one career resolution

and making more money remains the

number two career resolution over the past five years.

For the first time in five years, a chance

to explore a new area in my profession ranked as the top motivator to change jobs.

There was a significant spike in participants stating that they would be motivated to change jobs for an employer

that, “embraces and values my role more

than my current employer.”

years, it remains the number one career resolution over the past five years.

and the lowest since the inception of the survey.

profession. This is the first time that exploration of new career options has been the top

motivator to change jobs, beating out autonomy which was number one from 2011 through 2013.

last year and is now the number two reason beyond the bedside healthcare professionals cite as a motivator to leave their current job.
