WE ARE CARTWRIGHT
In May 1963, an ambitious graduate of The Kendall School
of Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan, decided he wanted to
design contemporary seating.
That young man was Jack Cartwright. His name also became
the name of the company he started with just one other
employee, a production specialist. Together they pursued
a clear vision:
“To provide the market with upholstered furniture of modern
design, produced with exceptionally high quality and priced
within reach of many.”
That philosophy continues today. Under the name of Cartwright,
our workforce in North Carolina dedicates itself to designing
and manufacturing seating that can be found around the world.

In early 2015, Cartwright became the latest addition to the Boss
Design Group, one of the UK’s leading designers and manufacturers
of high-quality office furniture.
Founded in 1983, Boss Design enjoys global success within
this design-led sector, attracting a prestigious client base
that includes many high profile and international blue-chip companies.
The company leads by example and continues to improve on the
delivery of an intelligent and evolving portfolio, while maintaining
the best ethical standards.
As part of the Boss Design Group, the Cartwright brand will
benefit from being part of an established global furniture company committed to continued investment in research and development.

CONSIDERATE OF OUR ENVIRONMENT
When our 85,000 square foot corporate headquarters and
manufacturing plant were constructed deep in a wooded
area, we kept one thing in mind: our impact on the
environment around us.
Over the years, we have kept our footprint low and taken care
to minimise the impact on the nearly 75 acres of woodland that
surround us. That includes initiating a reforestation program
after construction, and ensuring we maximise waste recycling.
We are continuously monitoring our lumber sources. In fact,
the largest percentage of our lumber comes from the indigenous,
North American Appalachian trees – a species not considered
to be endangered.
We understand how fragile the environment is and know that what
we produce will someday be returned to it, having served a useful life.

THE BEST OF FINISHES
At Cartwright, we pride ourselves on our range of upholstery. It is the
stage of the manufacturing process that brings together the expertise
of upholsters, the technology of our plant, and the preference of our
customers on which finish they would prefer.
In that coming together of man, machine, and material the final piece of the puzzle is put into place, and the final desired product can be seen for the first time. We welcome the specifications from our customers of the fabrics they want to see on the finished product.
