Tickets available for the 4-H Benefit Auction and Dinner to be

Held November 16th. Make your plans now to attend the 2019 Carroll County 4-H Benefit Auction. The Benefit will be held Saturday, November 16th at the Atwood Yacht Club. There will be a wonderful dinner and of course our always competitive but friendly Silent and Live Auctions. Tickets available pre-sale only at the Extension office for $30 apiece. This is the event that provides the Carroll County 4-H Program with the funds needed to offer assistance to those in need for activities such as 4-H Camp, Leadership Camp and 4-H Conference. The college scholarships are also a result of this night of fundraising. Outstanding Court and Best of 4-H Night are funded through this benefit.

Come join us in celebrating the

accomplishments of our

Outstanding 4-H youth at the

Annual Best of 4-H Night. We

will be acknowledging all honor

members, awarding our

Outstanding showmen and our

excellent secretary and treasurer

books.

After the ceremony this year, we

will be serving ice-cream and

having a “camp style” dance for

those who want to stay a little

longer! We will be wrapping up

at 8:30pm.

Algonquin Mill Festival Parking

October 11-13 is the Algonquin Mill Festival. The Carroll County 4-H Advisory Committee has

been offered the position of parking cars again during the festival. This is a wonderful fundraising opportunity for the 4-H program and a chance to develop a partnership with the Historical Society. In order for this to be successful – we are in need of many volunteers. We have a large number of volunteers signed up but could always use more help, especially since this is our second year – the more hands we have the better!

Steer and Dairy Steer Tag-In for the 2020 Fair is Saturday, November 16th

from 9-11am at the Fairgrounds. County Born and Raised form NEEDS to be turned in at this time. (Go to http://carrollcountyfairohio.com/jrfair or stop in at the office for a form) (All Steers must be properly dehorned and castrated prior to Tag-In)

CAMP COUNSELOR INFORMATION

Camp Counselor Applications will be available in November. You must be 15 years old as of the first day of June to be a CIT and 16 years old to be a counselor. Applications will be due Friday, January 3rd. Everyone must turn in an application regardless of how many years’ experience you have.

Donations Needed for Benefit Auction

Calling all Members and Clubs: We are in need of donations for the benefit auction. If you or your club is planning on bringing in a donation for the auction, please call the Extension office and let us know. While baskets are what the auctions are known for and are very successful, please feel free to be creative! Craft items, household décor, spa packages, body/bath care items and gourmet chocolates are always tempting. There are frequent bidding wars over hunting, fishing and sporting gear as well as grilling items. Don’t forget about gift cards/certificates from local businesses as well. Your donations are what make this event so successful and we are always so thankful for the generosity of our members!

Interested in Becoming a Teen Leader? Teen Leaders is a 4-H Club for teens ages 13-18 as of January 1st. It is a group that focuses on leadership training, team building, community service and event planning. Teen Leaders provide the help and support for the many county-wide activities that are held throughout the year. If you are someone who likes to help younger children, prepare for events, work on community service projects or provide support from “behind the scenes”, this is the club for you! You do NOT have to take a 4-H project thru Teen Leaders as long as you are a member of another 4-H Club and you are completing a project(s) thru that club. However, if you are planning on Teen Leaders being the only club you are registered with in Carroll County, you are required to complete a project to be a member in good standing. There are no restrictions or limitations on what projects you can take thru Teen Leaders. All projects are welcome. Carroll County Teen Leaders meet on the 3rd Monday of the month at 4:30pm- location TBA.

Depending on what activities, programs and events are happening, there may be additional meetings

throughout the month.

Would You Like to Become a 4-H Volunteer?

The face of 4-H is changing! Clubs are evolving and we are seeing new and innovative programs on the horizon. If you are an adult that has a special interest in an area that you would like to see our 4-H Program expand in – please contact our office. For example; we now have the Carroll County Coders (Computer Coding and Tech) and Native Ground Outdoors Club (Natural Resources/Gardening). Both of these clubs are meeting the interests of youth in our county and showing them a side of 4-H that they didn’t know existed.

Becoming an Advisor is a rewarding way to give back to our youth in 4-H! If you are interested in becoming a 4-H Advisor/Volunteer, now is the time to get your application filled out and turned in. The process is simple.

1) Fill out an application. Click on the following link, fill out the form and send it to the office or you can stop in and pick one up. http://go.osu.edu/CCVolunteer

2) Come in for the required interview. We will work with your schedule!

3) Get the required BCI fingerprint check We will reimburse you the cost of this!

4) Take part in the New Advisor training the first year and then take part in the yearly update each year.

ADVISOR CORNER!

ALL ADVISOR update will be held on January 8th at 10am, January 9th at 5pm or 7pm this

year. There will be 3 different 2 hour sessions offered over the course of 2 days. It is

MANDATORY that you attend 1 of these sessions due to the Minors Policy 1.50 child abuse

and neglect training. Please call the Extension office to register and mark it on your calendar

now.

The Advisors that need their background checks renewed in 2020 will be receiving their

notification letter by October 31st. Please be sure to bring your receipt to the office so we

can turn it in and get reimbursement for you.

Advisor Packets will be ready by Monday, 11/7. NOTE: All enrollments will be done online.

Please have your new members fill out paper forms. No paper re-enrollments will be

accepted.

The paper version of the 2020 Family guide will not be available in the office until November.

It is available online at https://ohio4h.org/boosk-and-resources/family-guide.

If you have made any changes to your meeting dates/times/locations, please let the office

know. Now is the time we get a lot of inquiries about youth wishing to join 4-H and in order to

guide them in the right direction, we need to be sure we have accurate information.

Your Club donation to the 4-H Benefit Auction is due by Friday, November 8th. We

understand that some baskets/items may need to come in later due to things like fresh baked

goods – if that is the case with your club, just give us a call and let us so that we can get your

donation listed in the program.

Please stay tuned for officer training as a date has not been announced yet.

Merging of Facebook Pages

You may have already noticed that the Carroll County 4-H and Family and Consumer Sciences pages have merged together. ALL 4-H, ANR and FCS information will be posted and will be update regularly. Thank you for your cooperation during this change.
