Marilyn Poole: May 13, 1942 - Feb. 11, 2013It’s hard to find the words to say
Exactly how I feel.Sometimes when sad I shed a tear
But know that time will heal.It wasn’t very long agoThat I coud talk to you
We’d share a joke, a worry tooWe’d know just what to do.
I can’t imagine where you areBut hope it’s somewhere calmAway from fear, no pain or hurt
Quite safe from any harm.I want to say I miss you
Because you can’t be hereBut then I now you’re in my heart
Those memories are so dear.I won’t forget your face or your smileTo know that you are now at peace
Will always mean so much.

It’s a fact proven time and again by many thousands of Canadians: Contributing to investments held within a Registered Retirement Sav-ings Plan (RRSP) is often the best way to save for retirement. It is also an indisputable fact that missing the deadline for making your maximum 2015 contribution can be costly. Here’s why:• If you are in a high income bracket this year but will have a low-er marginal tax rate in a future year, your tax benefi t from that future RRSP contribution will also be low-er.• The additional tax refund you didn’t get because you didn’t con-tribute this year is not available to make investments or pay down non-deductible debt. • The government does not allow you to make RRSP contributions af-ter the end of the year that you turn age 71. So, if you (or your spouse) are turning 71 in 2016, you should consider making an RRSP contribu-tion by December 31, 2016, or you’ll lose that tax-saving opportunity.• If you are making a contribu-tion to a spousal RRSP, do it before December 31 each year to reduce the time before it can be withdrawn. A contribution to a spousal RRSP must stay in the RRSP for three cal-endar years before it is withdrawn,

RRSP deadlineor the withdrawal will be “attributed” back to the contributor.• If you are claiming a spousal RRSP deduction for a deceased spouse or common law partner, the contribution to the spousal RRSP must be made in the year of death or during the fi rst sixty days after the end of that year or the opportunity for this deduction will be lost.• If you are required to make a loan repayment under the Home Buyers Plan or Lifelong Learning Plan, missing your contribution will result in a taxable income inclusion for that year. The deadline for making RRSP contributions for the 2015 tax year is February 29, 2016. Don’t miss it and don’t miss out on other tax-saving, income-building opportunities – talk to your professional advisor soon. The most recent quarterly reports on losses of public money within government ministries and Crown corporations, for the period October 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015, have been tabled with their respective legislative committees. The Provincial Comptroller tabled Executive Government’s report with the Public Accounts Committee for the third quarter of the 2015-16 fi s-cal year. The Crown sector tabled its fourth quarter re-port on losses with the Crown and Central Agencies Committee.

Artifact/Artifi ction, the signa-ture fundraising event for the Royal Saskatchewan Museum (RSM), hosted by the Friends of the RSM, takes place on Saturday, February 6 at the museum beginning at 7 p.m. The event features 20 intrigu-ing and rarely displayed artifacts from the RSM’s heritage collections, and 20 amazing tales about those artifacts, as presented by museum curators and staff . Attendees have to decipher fact from fi ction by de-termining which stories are tall tales and which are true. The event will also feature the culinary expertise of award-winning chef Milton Re-bello, as well as beverages provided by Rebellion Brewing. Net profi ts raised from Artifact/Artifi ction sup-port scientifi c research at the RSM through the $25,000 RSM Graduate Scholarship. “Artifact/Artifi ction is an event with many positive impacts,” Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Mark Docherty said. “Not only is it a unique and entertaining evening for guests, the funds raised sup-port graduate students, and their research, along with the research of RSM curators. I applaud the Friends of the RSM for their hard work in organizing this meaningful and successful event.” The RSM is proud to announce Charlie Bailey as the 2016 Graduate Scholarship recipient. The scholar-ship supports exceptional students conducting research that furthers the RSM’s mandate to study, in-terpret and share knowledge about Saskatchewan’s natural and human history. Charlie Bailey grew up in rural Manitoba and completed an Arts degree at Brandon University before

pursuing a second undergraduate degree in Biology at the University of Saskatchewan (U of S). At the U of S, she fell in love with the study of insects and rekindled her child-hood passion for botany. Currently a graduate student with the Faculty of Science at the University of Regina, Bailey’s master’s project involves investigating to what degree wild in-sects are responsible for sour cherry pollination. Dwarf Sour Cherries are a rela-tively new fruit crop in Saskatch-ewan but its popularity is growing with production in the prairies, more than tripling over the past 20 years.Cory Sheffi eld, Curator of Inverte-brate Zoology at the RSM, is one of Charlie’s master’s supervisors.“I enjoy being a lone ‘blue and gold’ island in the sea of green that is Re-gina,” Bailey said. “I’m excited to learn about Saskatchewan’s insect diversity and to contribute to agri-cultural practices in the province; the RSM scholarship opens doors to exciting avenues in my research and I’m very thankful to receive this award.”Artifact/Artifi ction is proudly pre-sented by ISC, and supported by MLT and the Faculty of Science, University of Regina. A limited number of tickets are available for $75 per person or a group of eight for $600.
