We’re here … Collectively provide information regarding access to local employment training,
placement, and support resources available to youth and young adults with disabilities. (Here to help you get ready for work, find a job, and keep it!)
Identify individuals needing work preparation / job placement / retention support while providing linkages to appropriate resources. (Who wants to work?)
Educate Career Visions consumers about available CV services and eligibility requirements. CV consumers include students and their families, the education team, community resource partners, and employers.
Career Visions’ Mission: Consistently offer the highest standard of workforce preparation and job placement assistance to youth and young adults with disabilities living in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The Programs – Career VisionsWorkAbility 1
All Special Education students qualify.
CA CDE funded - currently supports the District to provide workforce prep and placement services to both HS and JHS students with documented disabilities.
$42K in direct OJT support allocated for FY1819.
Target population – Enrolled students ages 16-22 years. Results for FY1718 – 1,600 + served, 239 placed.
Limited Vocational Training Support (Equipment, Bus Passes, Tuition).
Emphasis on transition to unsupported employment. (50 hour initial placement)
Transition Partnership Program (CA DOR) Dramatic change in program dynamics beginning July 2018.
All students enrolled ages 16-22 with a documented disability now qualify for work experience support upon referral, including Special Education, 504, ADHD, OHI, Behavioral Health, etc. Streamlined referral process.
Currently, 166 referral slots available to District students(237% increase in projected service reach for TPP from 17/18).$120,000 dedicated to direct work experience support forFY18/19!
Program = Workforce Preparation Training in the classroom and paid work experience - up to 400 hours of subsidized placement support annually provided different career sectorsare being explored. (100 hours per sector).
Post secondary support (Equipment, Transportation Passes,Tuition) from CA DOR upon formal intake. (6 months prior to exit traditional but sooner if needed).
Target population – 16 + years

WS Hart TRAILS Program 2 week intensive trail maintenance / construction program. 60 paid hours, June.
Funded by WorkAbility, City of SC, CA DOR, and US Forest Service.
28 training slots available. Electronic applications accepted beginning late April of each year. Competition traditionally high.
Open to all students enrolled ages 14-22. Includes both special education and general education students.
Must be available all work days. Zero tolerance policy for absenteeism. Transportation to work sites provided by WSHUHSD.

Since 1991, City of Santa Clarita has offered teens and young adults
job training, work experience, and opportunities to build self-esteem
and confidence.
Background
The YES program is offered three times a year
•Spring February-May•Summer June-August•Fall September–December
YES Participants must be:
•16-19 years old •At-risk or low income•Reside in the Santa Clarita Valley•Currently enrolled in high school

Accessing Career Visions Services
Students desiring access to CV services must first complete an online program application. Our application is available at www.cvworks.org
Once completed, your application will be routed for review and you will be contacted by a CV Career Transition Advisor within 10 business days.
Career Transition Advisors – Junior HS, HS & Adult Transition Provide support to CV students outside the classroom environment. Support work experience opportunities (subsidized, direct hire
opportunities, both TPP and WAI). Refer students for formal DOR intake if optioned (traditionally 6 months
prior to exit but can be sooner if needed).

experience training process.
