1. Introduction / About PEER VEET:

PEER VEET is both a Group Training Organisation (GTO) and a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). The

PEER VEET Employment Services Division (GTO) employs Apprentices and Trainees under a Contract of Training and facilitates placements with Host Employers in industry. Our recruitment needs are determined

by Industry and Host Employer demand. The RTO trains Apprentices to achieve their qualification as well as

training high school students in VET in school programs, pre Apprenticeship pathway programs, upskilling of existing workers, and trades recognition for migrants from overseas.

The Apprentices and Trainees we recruit are serious and enthusiastic about a long-term career within our

industries. Our Apprentices and Trainees are also representatives of our organisation and are committed to our partnership with our Host Employers.

PEER VEET’s mission is to provide professional and innovative employment, Apprenticeship and trades training

services to improve the skills of our clients and to provide employment and training opportunities for

Apprentices, employers and enterprises in the Building, Construction and related Contracting sectors of industry in South Australia.

Our History:

PEER VEET was established in 1986 with a total of 12 Apprentices. Our quality Apprentices and commitment

to industry has facilitated our growth. We now employ in excess of 500 Apprentices and trainees, making us the largest employer of Apprentices and trainees within the Building and Construction Industry in South

Australia.

2. Application Process:

1. Before submitting your application please ensure you have read the Career Information Pack

2. All applications to be lodged online at www.peer.com.au - Only online applications will be accepted

3. Attach relevant supporting documentation and submit your application, you will then see the following

screen message acknowledging your application has been submitted successfully:

4. An automated email response will be sent acknowledging receipt of your application by our Recruitment

Department:

5. Your application is then assessed against our selection criteria

6. You will be contacted by email or phone regarding the progress of your application

7. After 3 months, if your application has not progressed through the recruitment process, you will be notified via email and you may reapply if you wish

All applicants are required to undergo a Suitability Assessment prior to interview. Out of trade

Apprentices who can demonstrate successful completion of Trade School Units of Competency may not be required to undertake a Suitability Assessment

3. Is A PEER VEET Apprenticeship Right For Me:

You will need to consider the following:

Am I:

o An Australian citizen or permanent resident

o Prepared to represent PEER VEET with pride and professionalism o Able to pass a Suitability Assessment

o The holder of a current drivers licence and have own transport or be prepared to obtain

o Prepared to undergo a pre employment medical assessment which may include a full functional capacity assessment and drug screen

o Prepared to obtain a DCSI Child Related Employment Screening clearance once you have been offered a place in a program or employment

o Prepared to work between 6:00am and 6:00pm, work weekends, work a reasonable amount of overtime and work night shift if required

o Prepared to comply with the Policies and Procedures of PEER VEET

o Prepared to travel to various job sites o Prepared to be rotated to different Host Employers throughout my Apprenticeship

o Prepared to change Host Employers at short notice o Prepared to work in Commercial, Domestic, Industrial, Construction environments

o Prepared to undergo a psychometric assessment if required

4. To Be Considered For An Apprenticeship (Employment):

PEER VEET has a large number of applicants who apply for Apprenticeships and Traineeships. As a result, the

selection process is highly competitive. To ensure your application is dealt with appropriately we need to

determine if you are suitable for an Apprenticeship or require PEER VEET Apprenticeship Pathway Program training.

You would ideally have:

o Successfully completed an Apprenticeship Pathway or VET in School program o Apprentices who have commenced a Contract of Training but are currently without employment (Out

of Trade Apprentice) are encouraged to apply

5. Suitability Assessment:

The Suitability Assessment is based on the academic requirements needed for the theory component of the

Apprenticeship.

Suitability Assessments are done online for Electrical, Data and Refrigeration trades. Plumbing is paper

based

Online registration instructions will be provided to applicants prior to Suitability Assessment (Electrical,

Data, Refrigeration only) Suitability Assessments take approximately two hours, scientific calculators are permitted

PEER VEET Suitability Assessments are conducted Wednesdays between 9:00am and 11:30am or as

required due to industry demand

Invitations to attend a Suitability Assessment are processed in date order of application received and priority

of vocations sought after o Notification of Suitability Assessment results can take up to 14 days, sample Suitability Assessments

can be found: http://www.peer.com.au/CareerAdvice/tabid/54/Default.aspx

A pass mark of 65% is required to progress through the recruitment process, if unsuccessful you may

reapply after 3 months Successful completion of EOZ/RA Assessments will be recognised

Country applicants are encouraged to contact the Recruitment Services Department on 8348 1200 to

offered a place in a program

SELECTION CRITERIA – Employment Application (Pre Apprenticeship / VET / D2C Graduates):

Preferred candidates will have the following:

Successfully completed a PEER VEET Apprenticeship Pathway or VET in School Program

Successfully completed Pre Vocational Program with another registered training provider eg: TAFE

Statement of results from training program completed

Current drivers licence (car)

Own transport (or working towards)

Completed industry specific work experience

Industry specific work experience reports

A recent DCSI Child Related Employment Screening clearance or willingness to apply

SELECTION CRITERIA – Out Of Trade Apprentices:

Preferred candidates will have the following:

Termination of Contract of Training Letter

Current drivers licence (car)

Own transport (or working towards)

Industry related tickets eg:

o In-training Licence / ARCtick Licence (Specific to Refrigeration) o Profiling Reports (Electrical, Refrigeration, Data, Plumbing)

o Trade school results (demonstrating successful completion of units) o Rescue Resuscitation Training

A recent DCSI Child Related Employment Screening clearance or willingness to apply

Industry specific licences/registrations/training (Whitecard, EWP, Boom Lift, Safe Working at Heights)

12. Notification / Timelines / General Information:

PEER VEET’s recruitment needs are determined by industry demand

Invitations to attend a Suitability Assessment are booked in date order of application received

An automated acknowledgement email will be sent upon successful lodgement of application

PEER VEET responds to all Applications for Employment, PEER VEET Apprenticeship Pathway Program,

Suitability Assessment invitations and Offer of Employment notifications by email only

After 3 months, if your application has not progressed through the recruitment process, you will be notified

via email and you may reapply

Notification of Suitability Assessment results may take up to 14 days

Notification of outcome for the PEER VEET Apprenticeship Pathway Program interview is dependent on final

program scheduling

Availability of programs is subject to Government subsidising training costs

Notification of Employment interview outcome may take up to 28 days

All Employment and PEER VEET Apprenticeship Pathway Program opportunities are subject to industry

demand and Government subsiding training costs
