Career Experience Opportunities (CEO) are an integral part of the Secondary School Reform (SSR) Plan. The SSR is a roadmap for substantively altering the educational experience of all middle and senior high school students in the District to assure that future graduates have the skills that they will need to effectively compete in the new global workplace. CEO serves as an opportunity to engage business and community leaders to expand learning through partnerships that connect to the students’ career pathways.

Getting StartedInterested Community members must first

create an account through the Community Portal and register with Password Management (P-Synch).

Community members may then apply to participate in the CEO Internships program. A Cooperative Agreement must be on file in order to participate.

Once approval is given by the Community Services office, internship offerings may then be posted.

Accessing the ApplicationOn the Community Portal landing page, click the Internship Provider link.

Adding an Internship OfferingOn the Internship Provider Landing page, click the Add

button.

Select the Career Cluster the opportunity falls under. Students will use the Career Cluster to determine if it falls under their academy. A description of the cluster appears as you make a selection from the list.

Enter the details of the internship opportunity. Please note that the dates of the internship must fall between the Cooperative Agreement dates. The Position Location will be prepopulated with the address from the Internship Provider application, but may be changed.

Select the skills associated with the job. Move the mouse over a skill to get a description and examples of that skill.

On this page you may enter any comments related to the internship. You may also create more than one internship from the same input. This is useful if you have more than one position available and the details are the same or vary only slightly. The advertise date is the date the opportunity will appear on the student search results. This field allows you to post opportunities now that will not be available until a future date.

If you would like to specify days and hours for the internship, click on yes and the input fields will appear. Once you click Submit, you will receive notification about whether or not the opportunity was successfully saved.

Once an opportunity is submitted, it will then appear on the Internship Provider landing page. Click on the Duplicate button to go through the Add Opportunity pages with the information from this opportunity prepopulating the fields. You may then change any information necessary as you move through the various pages.

From the landing page, opportunities can also be modified using the Edit button. You may then change any information desired as you move through the various pages.You may also withdraw an opportunity offering by clicking on the Withdraw button. If you withdraw an opportunity, you will receive a confirmation message as shown. Once you confirm your action, the Internship Status will be changed to Withdrawn and it will not be shown on the student’s search page.

Editing and withdrawing an opportunity is only available when no students have requested interviews.

If you wish to see the summary of the internship details, click on the job title in the Internship Title column.

The Internship Details page will then be displayed. To return to the landing page, click Close.

Once a student requests an interview, the CEO School Coordinator must approve that request. As soon as a student is approved to interview, they are added to the student queue. The name of the first student approved to interview for the opportunity will be shown. The student will receive a message with the supervisor’s contact information and is responsible for initiating contact to schedule the interview.

Once the interview takes place, you must decide whether to hire the student. If you hire the student by clicking the Hire button under Actions, you will receive a confirmation message as shown.

Once you confirm your action, the student will be notified and the CEO School Coordinator will approve the hiring once the student turns in the necessary paperwork.

If you decline to hire the student by clicking the Decline button under Actions, you will receive a similar confirmation message.

Once you confirm your action, the student will be notified of your decision. The next student in the queue, if any, will then receive the supervisor’s contact information and will be instructed to schedule an interview. The next student’s name will now be shown.

Once a student is hired, you are required to submit an assessment of the student’s performance in five areas. This can be done by clicking the Assess button.

Assessment information is due two weeks before the end of the grading period. You will receive an email reminder before the due date. Assessment input cannot be changed after the due date.

Details about the assessment areas will be displayed when the mouse is placed over the area names. Click Submit to save the assessment input. The assessment information can only be seen by the CEO School Coordinator, not the student.

Once you are finished, click Logout to exit the portal.
