You know you are doing SI when…
You use Collaborative Learning Techniques (CoLTs) and Learning Strategies. This means getting students to work together by util izing their collective knowledge and focusing on the long-term retention of information.
You encourage students to find information and rely on each other, you are not the expert. Talk for less than half of the SI session duration and
allow students to make most of the contributions
You do an opening and closing activity during each and every 50-minute session
You always practice the 3 non-negotiables (facilitation techniques): redirect questions, check for understanding, and wait-time are staples of an SI session
