INTRODUCTION
We are delighted to share our New York pack with you. As the city continues to gain momentum in
its backing of the design industry, and our design community continues to grow, it promises to be a
vintage year for NYCxDESIGN.
In additions to high profile destinations like ICFF, WantedDesign returns to Brooklyn with a base
at Industry City and WantedDesign in Manhattan has a strong program, including a three-day
Conversation Series co-presented with Metropolis Magazine. designjunction returns to ArtBeam in
Chelsea for its second year, and for the first time collaborates on an extensive programming series
with Dwell on Design.
This year Sight Unseen Offsite heads to the Grace Building on Bryant Park, bringing with it over 60
independent design studios. Highlights include a large-scale harmonic installation by Leong Leong,
a collaboration between 5 Norwegian and 5 US design studios, and Furnishing Utopia with 12 design
studios reinterpreting Shaker Furniture.
For the first time, The Design Pavilion at Astor Place will feature multiple installations, including
Growth with 50 products from the American Design Club, and will serve as a hub for the NYC Design
Talks, which will take place at FIT, Cooper Union and Parsons.
Camron New York will be supporting our client events and installations, with five flying in from our
London office and Marisa flying in from our newly formed LA office.

NYCxDESIGN ANNOUNCES MAJOR NEW INITIATIVES FOR FOURTH ANNUALCITYWIDE CELEBRATION OF DESIGN
Design Fields Employ More Than 40,000 People in New York Metro AreaExtended NYCxDESIGN to Run from May 3 to May 17, 2016
New York City (February 9, 2016) — NYCEDC President Maria Torres-Springer and design community leaders today announced that NYCxDESIGN, New York City’s official citywide celebration of design, will include an additional three days of programing in 2016 along with new initiatives and events. NYCxDESIGN, now in its fourth year, will take place from Tuesday, May 3rd, to Tuesday, May 17th. This annual celebration serves as the platform to highlight New York City’s diverse design community and its contributions to the fabric and economy of the five boroughs, together with examples of some of the latest in global design. Details of the program, including the announcement of two new initiatives, were discussed today at a design community kickoff event at the Museum of Arts and Design.
“With over 44,000 practicing designers, the New York City area has more people working in design fields than any other metro area in the US---almost as many as LA and Chicago combined,” said NYCEDC President Maria Torres-Springer. “With design jobs growing twice as fast as average overall city job growth over the last decade, we’re seeing even greater opportunity for good-paying jobs throughout the five boroughs. NYCEDC is proud to support programs like NYCxDESIGN that help our designers showcase their innovations and position New York City at the forefront of the design world.”
“We’re proud to be a part of New York City’s citywide celebration of design, and we encourage visitors to experience our vibrant design community and the newest developments, expressions, and trends that will be showcased throughout the five boroughs,” said Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company. “The world recognizes us as innovative, vital, and visionary because of programs like NYCxDESIGN, and it further promotes New York City as a global design capital.”Today’s announcement builds on the success of last year’s NYCxDESIGN, which featured 564 unique events at 228 locations, double the number of events held in 2014. These events represented 17 design disciplines including digital, furniture, graphic, architecture, product and urban design. According to the 2015 NYCxDESIGN attendee survey, respondents attended an average of six events and 97 percent of attendees stated they would return to NYCxDESIGN in 2016. Key findings from the 2015 NYCxDESIGN event organizer survey reported that 80 percent of participants plan to be part of NYCxDESIGN in 2016.
Hosted at venues throughout all five boroughs, NYCxDESIGN 2016 will include events focused on commerce, culture, education and entertainment with a full, varied program including exhibitions, installations, trade shows, talks, launches and open studios.

NYCxDESIGN AwardsThis year, Interior Design magazine and ICFF will present the first annual NYCxDESIGN Awards, a global design competition celebrating outstanding achievement across major areas of design—from architecture to interiors, from products to collectibles, from craft to technology.
“No matter the fair or show, borough of the city or design discipline, it’s about the community coming together for the very first time in celebration of all things design, and it doesn’t get better than that!” said Cindy Allen, Interior Design’s editor in chief.

This open and inclusive awards program will serve as a connector pulling together and rewarding excellence in design achievement from the over 500 events that comprise New York City’s showcase of global design. The Design Pavilion/NYC Design Talks
From May 7-15, Design Pavilion will hold a spectacular 9-day public activation at Astor Place in Greenwich Village. This curated set of interactive displays will bring design and innovation directly to New Yorkers and visitors alike during this year’s NYCxDESIGN.
In conjunction with Design Pavilion, NYC Design Talks will explore the relationship between design and community and will feature talks by some of today’s great design thinkers and relevant insights provided by IBM, Design Trust for Public Space, NYC Department of Design and Construction, AIGA, and more.
“Design Pavilion invites community engagement in celebrating NYCxDESIGN and ultimately encourages the increased awareness of the power of design,” said Ilene Shaw, founding principal of event producer Shaw & Co. Productions. Design Pavilion and NYC Design Talks are produced by Shaw & Co. Productions with creative direction by Harry Allen Design.

In an effort to expand the global impact of NYCxDESIGN, the program was represented at a number of international design weeks in 2015 including Milan, Shanghai, Barcelona and Tokyo. Additionally, international design weeks had the opportunity to participate in NYCxDESIGN, and representatives from various design weeks included Beijing, Ireland, Lima, Mexico, the Netherlands, Paris, Shanghai, Tokyo and Toronto. NYCxDESIGN is a founding member of a new World Design Weeks organization that is currently in formation.
Home to more than 44,240 practicing designers (more than any other metropolitan area in the United States), approximately 3,977 design firms and 10 prominent design and architecture schools, New York City is one of the world’s design capitals. The design sector is a strong source of middle-income wages and positive opportunities for income mobility: Employees in the sector earn an average annual wage of $69,500, and 67 percent of those employed in the sector earn at least $50,000 a year. In addition, design employment increased 28 percent between 2004 and 2014, compared to a citywide employment growth of 19 percent over the same period.
Design-related event organizers can submit their events to the NYCxDESIGN website (www.nycxdesign.com) for inclusion on the site’s calendar, leading up to NYCxDESIGN in May.

For the four-day duration of the Fair, 165,000 net square feet (15,300 net square meters) of the Javits Center will be abuzz with more than 33,000 interior designers, architects, retailers, representatives, distributors, facility managers, developers, manufacturers, store designers, and visual merchandisers. On Tuesday, May 17th, the ICFF opens its doors to the general public, as well.
More than 750 exhibitors from all points of the globe will display contemporary furniture, seating, carpet and flooring, lighting, outdoor furniture, materials, wall coverings, accessories, textiles, and kitchen and bath for residential and commercial interiors. This remarkable throng of exhibitors creates an unparalleled opportunity to view a broad yet highly focused selection of the world’s finest, most innovative, and original avant-garde home and contract products side-by-side, under one roof.

The 28th annual ICFF, North America’s platform for global design, will map the newest frontier of what’s best and what’s next at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, May 14-17, 2016.

Positioned right on the show floor, ICFF Talks features panels of industry lead-ers discussing changes, new introductions, materials and trends in the interior design world. An audience of over 150 architects, interior designers, developers, and visual merchandisers join in to listen and learn about what is happening in their industry.
ICFF Editor Awards
ICFF convenes the industry’s top editors to choose the best of the best of the year’s design crop. On the opening day of the show, nine editors explore the ex-hibition floor looking for the most standout designs in the categories of furniture, seating, flooring, lighting, accessories, materials, wall covering, kitchen & bath, outdoor furniture, and booth design.

WeWork, the archetypal co-working space, brings a pop-up workspace to the ArtBeam venue with free wifi. Furniture within the WeWork co-working area will be provided by Muuto, known for its bold, creative pieces that deliver a new perspective on Scandinavian design.
In addition, the café area at designjunction + Dwell on design will be furnished by Vitra and Artek, with a free espresso for every visitor served by coffee sponsor illy. British design brand Dyke & Dean fuses old school quality with a contemporary twist. The show will mark the international launch of the brand’s new Splatterware range of enamelware, as well showcasing new lighting ranges.
AARA is a British brand designing and manufacturing beautiful contemporary furniture and lighting, made in India. Inspired by traditional crafts, the company combines local raw materials and forward thinking manufacturing and engineering processes. In New York, the brand will show products from designers Alexander Mueller, Catherine Aitken, Daniel Schofield, Ester Comunello and Suliman Innab.
Melin Tregwynt has been weaving woollen cloth since 1912 on the Welsh coast. The brand will showcase blankets, throws, cushions, bedspreads and upholstery, including new collection Vintage Star, a bold double weave in pure wool based on a 1960s design from the company archive that is brought up to date with the use of contemporary colours.

For the first time this May 13-15, the UK’s leading design exhibition designjunction and Dwell on Design, America’s largest design event, will partner during NYCxDESIGN. This much anticipated collaboration promises to present the city’s most exciting display of cutting-edge design and captivating conversations.
The warehouse-style ArtBeam venue in Chelsea will host speakers including legendary illustrator Bob Gill; Caroline Baumann, director of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum; artist Tom Sachs; architects Matthias Hollwich of HWKN and Dong-Ping Wong and Oana Stanescu of Family; Dorothy Cosonas, creative director of KnollTextiles; and design entrepreneurs Sandy Chilewich, Stephanie Goto, David Weeks, and Gregory Buntain of Fort Standard.

DESIGNJUNCTION + DWELL ON DESIGN
Showing for the first time in the USA, Cuero Design combines Italian leather with Swedish steel to create beautiful interior design with a connection to nature. New products that will launch at the show are the Pampa Mariposa, a leather Butterfly Chair, and Iceland Mariposa, a sheepskin Butterfly Chair made of Icelandic lambskin, as well as the Abrazo chair and Sierra tables.
Iota will showcase its contemporary luxury home products based on traditional crochet technique, following the traditions of northern Europe. The range extends to home accessories, soft furnishings and occasional furniture. Lighting design specialists Haberdashery will be showing Leaf, its beautiful sculptural lighting product system, made from delicate leaf-shaped bone china elements.
Will Sorrell, deputy director of designjunction, commented: “We’re delighted to return for our second year in New York, and to partner with Dwell on Design for the first time. Our multipurpose space will provide the best in design inspiration, debate and co-working space in the heart of Chelsea — a cutting edge destination for international design.”designjunction + Dwell on Design includes a specially curated talks programme, developed by Dwell’s EVP, content and editor-in-chief, Amanda Dameron.
The programme will feature a host of high-profile industry panelists including leading architects, designers, creative directors and curators, where CEUs (Continuing Education Units) will be awarded to the architectural and design community. The programme’s theme is ‘Exploring the built environment in the modern world’.
Renowned illustrator, graphic designer, and author Bob Gill, who in a career spanning more than 60 years has influenced modern typography, design, and graphics, will headline the talks programme. He will be joined by others, including Caroline Baumann, director of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum; Dorothy Cosonas, creative director at KnollTextiles; architects Matthias Hollwich of HWKN and Dong-Ping Wong and Oana Stanescu of Family; and 25 additional industry leaders.
Amanda Dameron of Dwell commented: “We are honored to welcome legendary design leader Bob Gill as our keynote speaker on Friday, May 13. Gill’s distinguished career has spanned continents and disciplines, and his perspective on the business of design - as well as the nature of creativity - is invaluable. • A newly commissioned, large-scale harmonic landscape installation by up-and-coming New York architecture studio Leong Leong that draws inspiration from the design of the new Ford Edge
• A long-distance collaboration between 5 American and 5 Norwegian design studios, selected and paired by Sight Unseen to create and present new work: Assembly Design + Morten & Jonas, Bower + Bjorn Van Den Berg, Farrah Sit + Silje Nesdal, Jonah Takagi + Hallgeir Homstvedt, and Ladies & Gentlemen + Vera & Kyte
• Furnishing Utopia, an exhibition of 12 design studios interpreting the Shaker tradition, sponsored by Design Within Reach and including designs by Charlie Schuck, Christopher Specce, Darin Montgomery, Gabriel Tan, Hallgeir Homstvedt, Jonah Takagi, Ladies & Gentlemen, Norm Architects, Studio Gorm, Studio Tolvanen, Tom Bonamici, and Zoë Mowat. Original artifacts on loan from the Hancock Shaker Village Museum will also be on view.
• An installation of massive-scale furniture by Dusen Dusen and Eric Trine for Land of Nod, which will make adults feel like children
• An abstract geometric furniture collection by up-and-coming Los Angeles studio Ouli for Arborite, using Arborite laminates
Sight Unseen, the influential online magazine, is returning to New York Design Week with the third annual Sight Unseen OFFSITE fair, presented in partnership with Ford Motor Company and running from May 13–16, to coincide with ICFF and the citywide festival NYCxDESIGN. IKEA is an additional partner for 2016.
The 2016 show will be held at the iconic Grace Building, in a 20,000-square-foot space overlooking Bryant Park. In addition to showcasing a curated selection of furniture and product launches by independent design studios and forward-thinking brands, Sight Unseen OFFSITE and Ford are bringing the design thinking behind the new Ford Edge to life in the form of TOPO, a special harmonic sound space by New York architecture studio Leong Leong.

WantedDesign has become the go-to place in New York to take part in the conversation around innovative design and build an international network of like-minded thinkers, creators, and artisans.
For the past five years, WantedDesign has been dedicated to uncovering the best designers and manufacturers across the world and fostering new ways to bring the best creativity and craftsmanship to commercial success. The creative community’s response has been overwhelming, helping expand our reach from the original location in Manhattan’s Terminal Stores building to our current year-round home in Brooklyn’s Industry City. This year’s show marks a new chapter of growth for WantedDesign, which has undeniably developed something that was unprecedented in NYC and gave birth to a new kind of trade show. It has become an essential destination for business and culture during NYCxDESIGN.
As it enter our 6th edition, WantedDesign has matured into a locus of thought-provoking and stunning creative energy. Overall it’s achieved something meaningful for the American and international design community over the past five years. It’s now opening a new era for WantedDesign, and the focus in 2016 is to take the platform to all new heights. Their success is thanks to the diverse and strong group of exhibitors that will be part of this May edition.
What’s New
UHURU Design x WantedDesignWantedDesign is thrilled to partner with Brooklyn-based design firm UHURU on the design of the Media and Welcoming lounge at WantedDesign Manhat-tan with its new WIRE and FOLD Collections. The WIRE Collection is a material interpretation of the abstract graphic pattern Dazzle. In the FOLD collection, UHURU aims to express how different fabrication techniques can alter the ma-terial perception of an object, giving wood the appearance of paper, or ribbon.
WorkOf x WantedDesignAs an online platform that represents many of the best contemporary design and manufacturing brands across the country, WorkOf was founded in many ways to answer the question of where you can find all of these incredible de-signers and purchase their work after the shows have ended. “Rooted in a deep respect for creative thinking and high quality craftsmanship, we aim to simplify the buying and selling of original products and unite a growing community of independent design and manufacturing brands in the process.” Explained Charlie Miner, founder of WorkOf. WorkOf will create an immersive interior “Loft” in which visitors can explore, interact and shop a selection of products sourced entirely from the WorkOf community.

The Conversation Series
The Conversation series at WantedDesign is a three-day program co-presented with Metropolis Magazine and hosted in the Conversation Room at Grimshaw. WantedDesign is a place where ideas are discussed and the public can engage with professionals to better understand design culture and business. Given that, design has always been about collaborations and encounters. The Conversation Series is the ideal place to get together, confront and ponder views on the international scene of design. This year, the conversation series will explore new prospective themes, like: design and science, design and cultural identity and the future of making.
International companies have found WantedDesign to be the ideal platform to tell a story, present new products, meet with the A&D community and potential new clients. Bernhardt Design, MOROSO, Cappellini, Alessi, David Trubridge, Blackbody, Alpi, Axor+Hangrohe, Fermob, Iittala, Ercol, among others, will be at WantedDesign this May. Part of the country pavilions, a large number of brands will introduce new products to the US market for the first time. WantedDesign has become the meeting point for younger companies to mingle with our industry’s most successful brands.
WantedDesign has sourced the best design pioneers from around the world, including brands and creators from Argentina, Mexico, Poland,
Quebec, Tunisia, Norway, France, and the Netherlands. Each of these group pavilions will carry a selection of their countries’ best designers. No doubt they will attract and seduced the U.S. clientele.
Combining culture and commerce, countries always showcase an inspiring combination of good design and local craft. It elevates the international dialogue among the community and open frontiers for designers and brands.

Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat, co-founders of WantedDesign are thrilled to announce that WantedDesign Brooklyn will be celebrating its third year in May 2016. This part of the show, far from being a secondary venue for WantedDesign, has offered its audience (professionals and amateurs), exhibitions and workshops that were focusing on design process and design thinking. WantedDesign team has put a great endeavor to build the Brooklyn show as a substantial resource provider for the whole industry, while maintaining a friendly and casual atmosphere that fit within the general Brooklyn flair. In 2016, WantedDesign Brooklyn is more than ever the place where the public will be able to deepen his knowledge and culture about design, meet professionals, discover tomorrow’s new ideas and talents and take part to the global design celebration initiated by NYCxDESIGN.

At Industry City, WantedDesign appears as a forerunner, committed for three years now, to bring a new kind of public on premises. The objectives of WantedDesign were simple yet challenging: the event aims at highlighting in a rare environment designers and makers studios, manufactures, young designers…. And have the public experiment innovative workshops and exhibits. This bold initiative has been very successful so far, with 6,000 visitors last year. As a result, WantedDesign definitely settled home at Industry City in 2015 with the opening of a permanent Design Store where the team can share its latest discoveries and design crushes.

Rado Star Prize 2016 launches in the U.S with WantedDesign
The Rado Star Prize is an established property that has regularly run in several different countries around the world and which supports young, unestablished designers, giving them a platform to show their work. These Prizes aim to support the work of young or unestablished designers by offering them a platform to show their work to experts from the design field and the general public alike. Jury members include Hakim El Kadiri, VP Product Management at RADO, Spencer Bailey, Editor-in-chief at Surface Magazine, Jason Miller, Designer and Founder of Roll&Hill, Andrea Lipps, co-curator of Beauty—Cooper Hewitt Design Triennial, Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat, co-founders of WantedDesign.
Held in the context of a large design event, such as Paris Design Week, Vienna Design Week or the World Design Capital® CapeTo w n 2014, in 2016 Rado has picked WantedDesign to be the stage of his prestigious Prize and bring the work of young designers to the future. The nominees will be announced on May 7, during the Opening party of NYCxDESIGN, co hosted at Industry City.

Bernhardt Design sponsors American Design Honors during Wanted Design for the third year. APPARATUS, the New-York based design studio, will display its latest collection of lighting fixtures and furniture at the company’s brand new 10,000-square-foot Garment district showroom and studio, which will open to the public on Saturday, May 14 in conjunction with NYCxDESIGN. The new collection features two modern lighting fixtures, a brass and marble umbrella and coat stand, and an Italian marble dining and coffee table series that fuse sculptural form with hand-worn materials. The designs will be on view and available for purchase at the showroom.

Danish furniture brand Carl Hansen & Søn will release Embrace, a new series of upholstered dining chairs by Austrian design studio EOOS. In addition, Carl Hansen & Søn will present a rug collection by Danish ceramicist, sculptor and textile designer Naja Utzon and re-launch a classic design by Hans Wegner, the CH22 lounge chair. Designed in 1950 when Wegner first started working with Carl Hansen and created iconic designs like the Wishbone chair, among others, the CH22 was never fully put into production in Wegner’s lifetime. It will be joined by the CH26 dining chair, a never before released design, which is a complimentary piece to the CH22.

Calico Wallpaper is pleased to debut their new Cirrus collection at ICFF. Evoking the illusive and ever-changing nature of clouds, Cirrus explores the elements of water, earth and atmosphere in a series of hand-painted watercolors. Combining natural brushstrokes with a rich reflective glaze, Cirrus transposes a series of delicate washes onto gold and silver metallics. To create the collection, founders Nick and Rachel Cope, experimented with the effects of subtle textures and patterns while using only the simplest of materials. The Brooklyn-based company printed this hand-painted pattern onto a metallic ground material, augmenting the soft watercolors with the golds and silvers of this lustrous backdrop.

For Chamber Collection #2, Andrew Zuckerman extends the immersive investigation of the natural world he explores through his practice to designed objects that bring nature closer to the living environment. In the first chapter of the collection, Zuckerman focused on antiquities and organic forms and materials, highlighting origin points in nature. Chapter #2, titled Progressland will hone in on the intersection between nature and progress, surveying the themes of exploration, technology, and innovation. Each of the 12 bars is infused with a different sea salt, and the varieties include Bali Reef, Birch Smoke, Black Diamond, Black Truffle, Chili, Maldon, Peppercorn, Sel Gris, Sicilian Coast, Tahitian Vanilla, Tangelo, and Thyme. For the designs, Calico Wallpaper drew inspiration from this featured ingredient and used a modified salt resist technique combined with water color painting. During NYCxDesign, MoMA Design Store will partner with Impossible Project to launch the new I-1 camera - the first camera engineered and produced by Impossible to celebrate its mission of re-designing instant photography for a digital generation. The I-1 was designed in collaboration with Jesper Kouthoofd, founder of Teenage Engineering. The camera pays homage to the iconic silhouette of Polaroid cameras in an updated, modern matte black finish. A one-of-a-kind ring flash provides diffused light with soft shadows, allowing for perfect shots and beautifully lit portraits. In addition to the camera, Impossible Project has developed an iOS app that links directly to the I-1. Users can experiment freely with creative tools such as double exposure and light painting. Once perfect, consumers are then able to upload directly to their social channels.

The Future Perfect is pleased to present Constructs & Glitches, a collection of new work by contemporary designer Christopher Stuart. Constructs & Glitches showcases the intentional and unintentional distortion of traditional forms. As Stuart was experimenting with the “constructs” of his new collection, he repeatedly encountered “glitches” with the CAD software. Rather than work around these errors, he instead embraced and exploited them, incorporating the “glitches” into his design. In celebrating these unusual forms, Stuart brings together the functional and non-functional to create works that challenge our traditional notions of what furniture should be.

Using USM’s iconic Haller System, each mixologist has created a custom bar cart based on a signature drink of their creation. The Future Perfect is pleased to announce the launch of Equalizer, a new lighting concept by Dylan Davis and Jean Lee of Ladies & Gentlemen Studio, created in collaboration with glass artist John Hogan. Equalizer is a new customizable system of metal framework with illuminated glass that elevates lighting to illuminated sculpture. The collaboration activates Hogan’s in-depth exploration of the glass medium and how it relates to Ladies & Gentlemen Studio’s experiments in lighting, form, and spatial experience. Glass sculptures by Hogan will also be on view as part of the installation.

Our Popup Shop at ICFF is Back!
Last year at ICFF, we created a popup shop featuring a group of awesome young designers. We are thrilled to announce that we’re doing it again this year and we’ve decided to call it the Milk Stand!
This year, we’ll have 14 designers in the space from across the US and Canada, who will come and show their wares, as well as sell them, to ICFF attendees. The space will feature a lounge area with charging station and furnishings by Blu Dot, a Tattly tattoo station, as well as a custom-designed space by BOWER. Plus, we'll have events, giveaways and other fun stuff going on!

Michelin starred Jason Atherton has finally landed in New York to open The Clocktower, set within the New York Edition, a new boutique hotel group created by Ian Schrager. The Clocktower is a must visit that overlooks Madison Square Park and boasts a beautiful collection of mahoganhy-pannelled dining rooms, a gilded bar and a billiard room.
Designer Ralph Lauren’s first New York restaurant is a must go if you haven’t been yet, replete with all the touches of a private club, including a grand fireplace, equestrian-themed art throughout, and toffee-shaded banquettes. The menu is an all-American classic.

For a unique dining experience, Bar Bolonat is a great choice to sample contemporary takes on classic Israeli fare. The cozy space is set in a stylish and minimalist interior, and also great for a creative cocktail or two. The freshly made sangria is also worth looking out for.
Set in a rustic, warehouse inspired space, Bakehouse Bistro & Bar offers classic fare and freshly baked goods. With offerings from fresh ricotta pancakes to grilled Tuna Nicoise and the renowned Bakehouse Burger, Bakehouse is the ideal stop for brunch and light lunch. It is also one block from the Jane Hotel.
A popular, quaint and charming little bistro in West Village that serves authentic French small plates and holds an excellent wine, cocktail and champagne list to indulge in.

The Upholstery Store is an intimate wine bar that serves a huge selection of wines by the glass, the bottle and offers a range of charcuteries boards that feature a variety of cheeses, cured meats and other gourmet global bar-bites and tasty edibles.
Wallsé, the flagship restaurant of Chef Kurt Gutenbrunner, serves fine Austrian cuisine from Goulash to Wiener Schnitzel. The plates served reflect Kurt’s passion for aesthetics, taste, quality, seasonality, as well as his knowledge of contemporary and classic culinary technique.
Simple, straightforward, British & Italian inspired cuisine using local ingredients, served in a British style gastropub. The Spotted Pig also boasts an excellent wine and cocktail menu.
Sodi enlisted chef Michael Genardini, late of Alto and L’Impero, to execute the small, weekly-changing menu, a compilation of classics like artichoke salad with shaved Parmigiano, lasagne, and salt-baked branzino.
Via Carota is the West Village gastroteca of cherished downtown chefs Jody Williams and Rita Sodi. Serving authentic and traditional Italian plates and aperitifs with the freshest ingredients, the menu and cuisine offered is completely inspired by the 17th-century villa in the hills near Florence.

Hailed as a favourite for Italian fare, Gemma is a great destination to stop for lunch. The restaurant is set in the stylish Bowery Hotel and offers a fantastic variety on their lunch menu. We recommend glancing over the cocktail menu – very inventive!
Winners of GQ’s Burger of the Year 2015, Superiority Burger boasts the most delicious veggie burger in the world, not just in NY. Led by head chef Brooks Headley, SB puts flavour first, hopefully banishing the boring old cliché of vegetarian food being flavourless.
Restauranteur John McDonald (Burger & Barrel, Lure) is behind Bowery Meat Company, a modern East Village steakhouse with all the classic cuts, served in contemporary ways. The menu also offers of-the-moment appetizers and a great wine list – we’d recommend glancing at the red wine list in particular.
Chef Amanda Cohen is the owner, chef and creative force behind Dirt Candy. It is probably one of the most creative restaurants you will find in East Village that guarantees a menu that delivers in dish diversity and passionate cooking.
With outstanding hospitality at the heart and an authentic Italian inspired menu at the head, Hearth is a restaurant we keep returning to. Whilst the cuisine is rooted in all the modern traditions of the American kitchen, it’s easy to see that Hearth’s heritage is truly Italiano.

Based in what feels like an earthy room with it’s stone tile and wooden banquettes, noreetuh serves elevated Hawaiian fare that also shares Japanese and Korean cuisine ties. The concept of this restaurant is to offer artfully crafted food paired with an approachable wine list in an enjoyable and casual environment.
Pylos offer a menu that honours the full scope of Greek cuisine, bringing fresh and wholesome cooking inspired by all regions of Greece to East Village. Served in a lively but snug space with terra-cotta posts that hang from the ceiling, allowing you to experience prosaic artefacts whilst dining.
A Japanese hideaway located in the middle of East Village, Kyo Ya is tucked away below street level. The restaurant interior is made almost entirely out of wood and is well known for its Kaiseki dining – this is a progression of courses featuring a variety of seasonal ingredients.
André Balaz and Michelin-starred chef John Fraser are the chefs behind the exquisite menus offered at Narcissa. The restaurant even has it’s own charming garden at the back making it the perfect spot for alfresco dining.
A cozy, romantic and laid-back atmosphere gives this French-American eatery a lovely environement to enjoy this French inspired menu.
Nestled in the East Village and set in a casual space that features reclaimed materials, Tuome offers a beautiful, ingredient-driven fusion menu that marries together contemporary American cooking and Asian influence.

Enjoy small but stunning plates at Eder Montero and Alexandra Raij’s Txikito, one of the best tapas destinations in Chelsea, surrounded by a dark, cosy space decked with rough-hewn wood. The menu stays true to all things Basque and the Spanish wine list is deluxe.
Untitled is a new restaurant from Chef Michael Anthony of Gramercy Tavern, located in the Whitney Museum of American Art in the Meatpacking District. Light-filled and airy, adjacent to the High Line park and the Hudson River, Untitled is inspired by the seasons.
Bottino is one of our favourite dining spots in Chelsea. It is the place for all the Gallerist, art collectors in Chelsea’s gallery district, serving Tuscan inspired dishes and boutique wines. Sitting out in the beautiful outdoor garden for lunch is a must.
Eli Kulp’s bread-and-pastry-centric West Village restaurant, High Street on Hudson belongs to a rare class of venues where the rustic pleasures of weekend brunch can equal the refined options of dinner.
Porchlight is the first bar sans restaurant by Danny Meyer and the Union Square Hospitality Group. Meyer states that Porchlight is a place for ‘being,’ as opposed to ‘doing’ and that is a perfect description of what’s offered at this neighbourhood bar.

A NoHo favourite for over 18 years, Il Buco is a charming Mediterranean-Italian restaurant set in a wonderfully rustic atmosphere, resembling a traditional Italian farmhouse. The dishes on offer are spectacular, crafted using traditional methods and using artisan provisions handpicked from independent producers.
Don’t be deceived by the size of this delightful lunch stop. Though intimate, the Ramen Lab packs a punch with it’s experimental, Japanese noodle-based dishes. Top tip: The Miso Ramen is the best you’ll find.
For a unique culinary experience, Café Gitane is a great option. The French-Moroccan cuisine is delivered in a simple state, allowing the food to stand out on it’s own. Sitting in, the atmosphere and interior is delightful, French boho and vintage kitsch. Top tip: the avocado toast is excellent.
Seamore’s, opened last June in New York and uses Dock to Dish and Sea to Table, is singularly dedicated to the sustainable fishing cause. Owner Michael Chernow grew up fishing and is passionate about the issue. The end result is a more conscionable (and delicious!) plate of food.
Pearl & Ash is a Bowery standout that delivers inspired American small plates, designed for sharing. While the food is spectacular, the vast and outstanding wine list offered is without a doubt the star of the show and worth paying a visit for. The restaurant is set in a beautifully intimate space with low lighting and high style décor.
Experience Thailand in New York at Uncle Boons with creative eats that cater to all taste sensations. Set in a small café with exposed brick, the rotisseries and grill offer a glimpse into life in Thailand with it’s Bangkok-flea-market décor.

Following the HUGE success of his pop-up Chez José, chef José Ramírez-Ruiz has opened this Latin-accented New American serving a nightly changing, high-end menu with a “veggie-centric” emphasis. The plates are so cleverly presented; bright, bold and beautiful.
Rucola is an intimate Northern Italian restaurant on a historic corner in Boerum Hill Brooklyn that offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. It has farm-to-table ethos and a delightful interior.
When in Brooklyn, Five Leaves is a must try. It is a Greenpoint bistro that serves New American fare from breakfast and brunch, to lunch and dinner, and all that is inbetween. The menu is excellent as are the cocktail options.
Roberta’s is a really popular Bushwick destination, well known for it’s wood-fired pizzas, signature pies and burgers. The creativity behind the menu is stellar (with entertaining dish names like ‘Cheezus Christ’) and the ingredients used are fresh, and of the highest quality.
St. Anselm is a cool Williamsburg steakhouse, grilling both steaks and seafood to perfection. You can watch the chefs at the flaming grill in this cosy brick-walled, patio-equipped spot. Top tip: don’t miss the pan fried mashed potatoes with your steak.

Dimes offer an eclectic and health-concscious menu with Californian-style fare from light, fresh salads to larger plates like the red curry mussels and spiced pork meatballs. A small but sweet cocktail, beer and wine list accompany.
Mission Chinese food is the New York outpost of the renowned San Francisco eatery that serves fiery, creative and innovative takes on traditional Sichuan cuisine. Beverage Director Sam Anderson serves up a seriously good cocktail.
This family-run spot has become quite a landmark of its own. Dating back to 1914, Russ & Daughters serves high-end smoked fish dishes, caviar and New York-style speciality foods in a bright space.
Lowlife is a casual fine dining restaurant that has a thoughtful approach to seasonal and ingredient-driven cuisine sourced from the Northeastern range of the United States. The Williamsburg Bridge, located seconds away, provides a lovely backdrop.
