Campus Information Services (CIS)
What information can you find out by using CIS?
As you enter your 10th through 12th grade years of high
school, you should be thinking more about your career
plans and how you can best fulfill your goals and interests.
One of the programs offered in your school is Early College
High School courses with the University of Utah. This is a
program that consists of 21 courses in your high school.
Early College courses mean you can earn high school and
college/university credit as well as grades for taking one
course.
University ID (uNID)
• Part of the class registration process creates your uNID.
This ID will follow you throughout your University of Utah
academic career.
• This ID will create a university email, any official
correspondence from the University typically goes to this
email.
• You will need this ID to access many programs in the
university system.
Logging Into CIS
• Go to the University of Utah website: utah.edu
• In the lower right hand corner, click on the red CIS button
• Use your uNID and birthday (MMDDYY) as your password
What Can I Do In CIS?
Student Profile
A Student Profile will appear, including all the demographic
information you submitted with your registration.

Canvas is an online classroom. Many classes will have an
online Canvas page and a link for those courses will appear
in the My Classes module.

Academic Holds
• If your final GPA falls below 2.0 for the semester, you will
have an academic hold placed on your record which will
prevent you from registering for classes for the next
semester.
• This hold can only be removed by an Academic Advisor
from the University of Utah.
• A meeting with an Academic Advisor will determine if you
can continue on with University/AMES classes.
FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
• FERPA NOTICE: The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA),
governs the release of records maintained by an institution of higher education and
access to student records, including requests for information from parents, guardians,
spouses, or others as designated by the student. Generally, without a student's written
consent, the University of Utah may not disclose information from a student's
educational records. For additional information regarding FERPA, please see
http://registrar.utah.edu/handbook/ferpa.php on the Web.
• Students who want to allow information released to individuals, or who want to receive
information, about their Financial Aid, Scholarships, Tuition, Registrar Records, Housing
Residential Education, or Academic Advising (University College/Departmental and
College Advisers) Records over the telephone, in person, or electronically must
complete this declaration form providing a standing release to the University to
disclose education information from the offices you designate below.
