SQUARE DANCING Square Dancing is lots of fun. In addition this activity has all of the elements of a healthy life style! Enjoy the light aerobic exercise, the mental stimulation of learning a new skill and the pleasure of making new friends. Please consider the following policies and requirements before registering for an San José Recreation Preschool class offered by the City of San José: Requirements for parent participation, volunteers, snack, etc varies by center. Teacher to child ratio is 1:10 or better. Participants must be toilet trained by first day of program.

Non-registered children are not allowed in the class at any time. Please make arrangements for siblings on your participation day. A birth certificate may be requested for age confirmations. The City of San José, Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services provide recreational program ONLY and not licensed childcare. After reaching the class capacity you child can be put on a waitlist. If a spot becomes available at any SJ Recreation Preschool center, you will receive a call and be given the

option to enroll at that center or to stay on the waiting list. Monthly payment plan is available, with auto-pay on the 20th of each month. A valid credit card must be on file for auto-pay option.

KINDER PREP This class prepares your child for kindergarten with age-appropriate activities, learn-ing concepts, socialization skills and fun. Your child will gain a basic understanding of shapes, colors and pre-phonics and literacy building (i.e. identifying letter sounds, and writing the alphabet and simple words), as well as number recognition, and counting up to 30. The goal is to have fun, participate and learn. Children must be fully potty trained before the start of class. Requirements for parent attendance, volunteers, snacks, etc. varies by center. Offered at Kirk and Camden Community Centers.

LITTLE LEARNERS Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, follow-ing directions and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordination, motor skills, and gain independence through the use of circle time, music, songs, stories, play and arts and crafts. Food will be provided for cooking activities and may be provided for special events. Children must be fully potty trained before the start of class. Requirements for parent attendance, volunteers, snacks, etc. varies by center. Offered at Kirk Community Center.

BEGINNING PIANO AND KEYBOARDS Students will be taught the basics of playing music on the piano/keyboard. Topics include: basic notes, rhythm and theory as well as finger exercises, chords and scales, all with the goal of being able to play basic keyboard accompaniment parts and fun songs. Keyboards will be provided for students in class. However, students will need a keyboard at home for practice. Recommended resources for purchasing or renting a keyboard will be provided at the first class. GUITAR LESSONS: LEVEL I This fun and educational class is for the absolute beginner guitarist. Students will be introduced to the basics of guitar playing and music fundamentals by learning fun, contemporary songs. Topics include tuning, chord strumming, "power" chording, blues and the fundamentals of note and rhythm reading. Students will need to have their own acoustic guitar or electric guitar. MUSIC TOGETHER® Music Together® is a research-based, developmentally appropriate music and movement program for children and their caregivers. Classes are fun and informal. MUSIC TOGETHER® SUPPORTIVE FAMILY CLASS (FOR SPECIAL NEEDS) Music Together® Supportive Family Classes are small music and movement classes that are recreational and enjoyable for special-needs children and their families. You and your child(ren) become part of a community of families sharing songs, instru-ment play and movement activities in a relaxed, non-performance setting. Siblings are invited to attend. FUTSAL (INDOOR) Futsal is a fun, fast-paced 5v5 soccer game, played indoors within the lines of a basketball court (no walls), using a small, size 3, low-bounce ball. During this class players participate in fun educational games. Every player has a ball at their feet and get the opportunity to put their skills to the test in a fun scrimmage.
