I. CAMBODIA’sCountry Profile
Capital City: Phnom Penh
In Cambodia, road networks are classifies into 3 main categories:
I. Primary National Road: 1-Digit National Roads, 2 lanes, total length is 2,243.52 km. All are paved by Asphalt Concrete and Double Bituminous Surface Treatment (DBST).
II. Secondary National Road: this category includes 2-Digit National Roads (2 lanes, length 3,360.30 km) and Provincial Roads (it is numbered 3-Digit or more; 1-2 lanes, the length is 6,627.96 km), total length of Secondary National Road is 9,988.26 km. All 2-Digit National Roads are paved by AC, DBST and SBST. However, Provincial Roads are paved in part by bituminous and in part by gavel (mostly latrite).
III. Rural Roads: 1 lanes, total length is 33,005 km. This category road is paved by gavel (mostly laterite) and earth.

Primary National Roads are numbered1-Digit of which are the main trunk road connected from the Country’s Capital to the Provinces and reach to the Country’s borders. There are only 9 Primary National Roads:

Results of 8th ASEAN and China Transport Minister Meeting in Hanoi (VN) on 11 Dec 2009: Agreed to initiate the implementation of ASEAN-China priority projects in 2010 in response to the Implementation Work Program (IWP) for the Strategic Plan for ASEAN-China Transport Cooperation Plan. length 150 km.• Reconstruction of Extension NR210 (Svay Leu [SR] – Srayong [PVH]),
length 110 km (under construction)• Reconstruction of NR264B (Kampong Thmor [KGT] – Prek Prasab
[KRT], Length 119 km• New construction of 3rd Mekong Bridge at KRT connecting NR264B
(Prek Prasap) to NR73 toward AH11/NR7 (2km).• Reconstruction of NR66-2 (Tbeng Meanchey-Thalaborivat), 160km. • New construction of 4th Mekong Bridge at Steung Treng, connecting
NR 66 (Thalaborowat) to AH11/NR7. (2km) (under construction)• Reconstruction of NR378 (Dongkralor [AH11/NR7/STR]–Siem Pang-
Veunsai-Ou Chum-Banlung[RTK] intersects with NR78), 120 km.• Reconstruction of NR 3RK1 (Ou Chum [NR378] – Taveeng), 36 km.

IV. Priority Projects for Development of Secondary Road for the next 5 years plan (2010 – 2015)
1. Northern line: 386 km - Phnom Penh to Poipet (386 km) which include the missing link 48 from Sisophon to Poipet.- Single Track Meter gauge 1000mm - Constructed from 1929 and finished in 1942 using steel sleepers bold rigid and used P 30 of rail support for 15 tons axle load. it consists of 49 Operation stations. (under rehabilitation)
2. Southern line: 264 km + 2km into port- Phnom Penh to Sihanouk Ville - Single Track Meter gauge 1000mm- Constructed from 1960 and finished in 1969 using wooden sleepers and used P 43 of rail support for 20 tons axle load. it consists of 29 Operation stations. (completed rehabilitation since Dec 2012)

The Master Plan for Railway Network Development in Cambodia (KOICA Funding)
- Ongoing- Period: 22 months (2011-2013), - Start from 17 June 2012.- On 26 September 2012 A technical seminar on Railway Master Plan
Study will be held at Phnom Penh Hotel. (Joint-Organized by KOICA, Korea Rail Network Authority, SAMBO Consultant & MPWT).
Railway (Border) Crossing Agreement:- Cambodia & Vietnam, was signed since 4 November 2008.- Cambodia & Thailand, is still under process (Final Draft was prepared). A
Minute of Discussion was signed on 17 August 2012 between Railway Department of Cambodia and the State Railway of Thailand.
