We want to thank Michael Lunceford for ten years of faithful service to the Lord and to His church. As Michael retires, we pray for the next chapter for he and Missy. Below is a message from Michael.

Dear Members of Calvary Baptist Church,

As some of you know, I am retiring from my position at CBC effective June 30. I wanted to take this opportunity to express thanks to the members of the Per-sonnel Committee that recommended to the church that I be hired as the Busi-ness Administrator 10 years ago. The members of that committee that are still members of CBC are William Armistead, Dick Guyton, Robert Upchurch and Larry Witcher. I hope that over the past 10 years I’ve not given you reason to regret your decision!

Also, I want to thank the many individuals who have chaired the various com-mittees that I served with as the staff ex-officio member. I hope I was able to make your job a little easier and that the committees were able to be more effective as they performed the important work assigned to them.

I want to especially thank my wife, Missy, who has been a constant source of support and encouragement to me. Working on a church staff can sometimes be a challenge and having someone who knows the importance of grace and forgiveness can help you through those times. Missy has certainly been that for me!

Lastly, and most importantly, I want to thank our Lord Jesus Christ who entrust-ed this important work of His church to one who was unworthy to hold this position. As we’ve gone about the work we were asked to do when hired, our constant guiding question has always been, “What is best for Calvary Baptist Church?”, not “What is best for an individual staff member or individual church member?”. (James 2:1)

Again, thank you for the honor and privilege of serving together with you during this time and my prayer as I go is that Calvary Baptist Church will continue to be a church that faithfully honors Jesus in all that is done for the good of His kingdom in this community and throughout the world until He returns.

Praying His best for each one of you, Michael Lunceford
