Solid Food The amount of growth that a child goes through within the first two years of life is incredible. It seems that major milestones in development come on an almost weekly basis. One of those transions is the transion to different types of foods. Of course an infant must have milk or formula to drink because their bodies are not yet ready to chew or digest solid foods. As they grow and get teeth, and their digesve systems develop, they can tolerate and begin to need the nourishment that more substanal foods bring. The same things we see in children should be characterisc of the growth we experience in our spiritual lives. In 1st Corinthians 3, the Apostle Paul writes to the Corinthian church about a deep spiritual issue that is causing problems within their body. As he informs them in chapter 3:1,2, “he could not address them as spiritual people,” and He fed them with “milk not solid food, for you were not ready for it.” He even reveals the reality that they sll are not ready for it. The Corinthian church has basically remained as spiritual infants. The long list of issues within this church from division, to eschatology, to spiritual giſts, and the Lord’s Supper can all be traced to this one reality. They are not growing. These are some of the most troubling words in scripture because of a problem they reveal that this church has not even recognized. The problem we see in the church at Corinth is a problem that we sll struggle with today. There are many who have been followers of the Lord Jesus Christ who have never moved on beyond spiritual milk and could not be described as spiritual people. Paul’s admonishment of the church in chapter three could be easily directed to these individuals. If our children were at this point physically, we would consider it a problem and get help to find out what is causing it and remedy the problem. It is interesng that we do not place the same priority on our spiritual lives. For many this is simply not a priority, and many individuals within churches could be described as spiritual infants. We must move on from this and become mature followers of Jesus Christ. If the Church is to achieve health, then it must start with its members recognizing this and running to it. It begins with a desire for the word and beginning to deepen our understanding and knowledge of it. We must recognize the purpose that we have been given in the gospel and make it our first priority. So what are you forfying yourself with when it comes to spiritual nourishment? Could it be that many of your struggles are related to a lack of spiritual health? So are you ready to move from milk to solid food? You have likely already heard me say this, but let me say it again—THANK YOU for your help with Disciple Now 2018! The weekend requires the help of so many volunteers, and I was overwhelmed by the support. There were people coordinating the food, mission projects, and drivers for the weekend, which freed me up to focus on other needs and make sure all the details were in order. We had so many people who provided food, drove groups of students around town, hosted students in their homes, volunteered with mission sites, and prayed for the weekend that I could not begin to list the names, partly for fear of missing someone but mostly because space does not permit it. So, if you were involved in any way with D-Now 2018, thank you!

As you already know, we will be taking a group on a mission trip to Quito, Ecua-dor over Spring Break in March. Please begin praying for the following people as we prepare to serve in Quito:

How good are you at playing “Follow the Leader”? I must brag on the children at Calvary because they are very good at this game. When we play this game, we talk about following the example of Jesus. We discuss that if we want to be Christ to others we must walk with Him and talk with Him so that we can act like Him. I ask the children how they get to know someone well, and they all shout, “spend time with them”!It seems so simple to the children that we must spend time with God if we are going to live the way that we are called to live. As adults, we seem to be so dis-tracted by “life” that sometimes we allow things to get in the way of spending time with our Father. We don’t understand why we lose our patience, harbor anger, or where our joy has gone. We cannot rid ourselves of anger, bitterness, and impatience in our own strength. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. We do not have it in ourselves to love others like Jesus. When we abide in the Word and spend time with our Heavenly Father we become more like Him. Have we become so distracted that we are trying to make it through life on our own strength? Are we spending time with the God that holds all things together? Are we following the One True Leader that laid His life down for us? I pray we all follow the example of Jesus Christ and bring His love to others!

How many there are ... who imagine that because Jesus paid it all, they need pay nothing, forgetting that the prime

object of their salvation was that they should follow in the footsteps of Jesus Christ in bringing back a lost world to God. Lottie Moon

Calvary Baptist Church,The mission house has been an incredible belssing, twice now, for our family. It was a refuge, a place of comfort and healing. We are so so thankful for it. Thank you for allowing us to stay in the house after two different terms of serving our Lord overseas. When words aren't quite adequate to express our full hearts of thanksgiving, we just pray that the Lord would bless you in return. We love missions. Thank you for blessing and supporting missionaries. All because of Jesus, The DewettsTed, Kerri, Taylor, & Kamryn
