Cookies for Kairos Bring them on Sunday, October 15 John Ashley and Rev. Steve Hassmer are both serving on the next Kairos weekend and you can support them by providing cookies. They are needed no later than Tuesday, October 17 (so bring them Sunday, October 15). Please Bake Cookies! These cookies have a very powerful effect on the inmates as they experience the Love of Christ and the atmosphere of the whole institution changes over this weekend. Kairos always welcomes prayers, homemade decorated posters (to hang up), decorated placemats (no stickers or glitter). If you need the specifics on how to prepare and store the cookies or have questions about this ministry please contact John or Amy Ashley at (703) 646-4144 or [email protected]. Further information on the cookies is also available at http://kairos-bkcc.org/ under the heading “documents.”

Notes from Camp Let the Children Lead... Over the summer the Elementary Camp hosted a “fun run” and raised $1,487 for Co-partners of Campesinas. It is just one example of the many service projects taken on by the children and youth during camp (during the summer and spring too). The “fun run” funds will help the Co-partners to: Purchase school supplies for over 200 indigenous

Guatemalan children Pay transportation costs for 15 Salvadoran youth, living in

communities where schools stop after eighth grade, so that they can complete high school; and

Pay the salaries of technical teachers providing vocational training each year to over 200 women and youth that will help them earn a living.

What a great example from the children.

A Special Invitation From Advent Lutheran Church The labyrinth at Advent is hosting a Full Harvest Moon Walk for prayer and meditation by candlelight on Friday October 6, from 6:30-8:30pm led by the Arlington Labyrinth group. Refreshments and meditative music in the Welcome area. You are welcome to invite anyone who would like to participant to drop by to do so.
