Individual Ventilated Cage (IVC) is composed of three parts:

Main unit (Hose)

Ventilation cage rack

Cages box: polycarbonate cage box, polysulfone cage box, polyetherimide cage box

The air enters each individual enclosed cage on the cage rack of air-guide passage through the air supply and

filtering system, providing uniform and low-speed flowing clean air for SPF animals. The waste gas let off by the

animal enters the ventilation system of the main machine through the air-returning duct of the cage rack, the

outdoor environment through filtering, ensuring a low ammonia concentration and low humidity in the cage,

reducing the change frequency of under-laid material, effectively preventing cross infection of animals,

guaranteeing the health and safety of the laboratory workers. It is suitable for SPF animal breeding, reproduction,

conservation and various short-term animal experiments, especially for breeding animal of immunologic deficiency

and transgenic animals. Compared with lab animal barrier environment, it is featured with easy operation, energy

saving, low equipment maintenance cost and low requirements to the room, etc.

Intelligent telephone controller

When the IVC equipment failure or power failure, start the intelligent telephone alarm system,

automatic pull through previously stored telephone or mobile phone number, if the first phone

(or mobile phone) no answer or not connected, it will automatically dial the other preset word

code, until someone answer the call. Can be stored 8 groups of telephone number. The

personal on duty to answer can be arrived at the scene to make emergency measures to the

pre-recorded voice alarm, protection of animal.






Use environment of IVC

Common room (open system): equipped with clean work table, breed SPF animals and carry out short-term animal

experiments through standard operations.

Barrier lab (barrier system): guarantee animal safety further, can breed animals of immunologic deficiency and

conservation, preventing cross infection between animals and human infection.

IVCs produced by Suhang Technology are various in types and specifications that can meet different lab

requirements. The 4 cage specifications include rat cage, mouse cage, rat and mouse cage and rabbit cage: there

are two types of main machines: manual frequency conversion type and intelligent type. The number of cages on

one rack can be customized as per the requirements of the customer.

Cage classification

According to the animal type, different cage structure and plastic raw materials, which can be divided into several

types.

The cage box consist of four sections, that is, plastic box, plastic lid, steel wire lid and water bottles.

Plastic box and lid. Designed with reasonable structure and functional parts, making animal feel

comfortable and safe.

Safety. Air intake/drain valve; the cage box, once getting away the rack, is automatically closed. Life air

window, it has a filtering film, and its cover is opened when the equipment is power off, thus extending

animal’s life. Prevent intake/exhaust pipes.

Practicability. Record card seat; it can be used for inserting 96x56mm record cards, facilitating recording

animal and experiment data. Buckle; it is quickly and to open the cage.

Steel wire lid. SUS304 stainless steel, with polished surface treatment, sooth and shinning.

Water bottle

Plastic bottle: polycarbonate, polysulfone and polyetherimide plastics can be sterilization.

Stainless steel bottle lid: drinking pipe, SUS304 stainless steel.

Silica gel sealing: making bottle caps and bottle sealed and waterproof.

Sterilization of IVC Cage Box

1. Select sterilization methods according to the materials of plastic cage boxes selected, which usually include

high-pressure steam sterilization, dry heat sterilization, Co60 radiation sterilization, and chemical sterilization;

2. Polycarbonate (PC) cage box is not suitable for frequent high-pressure steam sterilization. In order to reduce

damage to the cage box by the high temperature sterilization, to extend the useful life of the cage box, and to

maintain transparency of the cage box, it is proposed that chemical sterilization and high-pressure steam

sterilization are used alternatively. Experiments show that sterilizing the IVC cage box with paracetic acid solution

in 0.5 percent concentration for 12 hours has the same effect of 134°C sterilization for five minutes.

The main unit is the “heart” of IVC, provides comfortable and clean air for animals, and includes air supply filtering system,

exhaust air filtering system, and electric control system. Both air supply filtering system and exhaust air filtering system are

composed of plate-type, coarse-efficiency and low-noise fan and high-efficiency filter; and the electric control system comprise

SPF mouse animal experiments are usually carried out in separate ventilation

cage within the IVC system, which is an equivalent to a miniature of the barrier

isolation environment. Due to the use of the common environment needs to be

carried to the cage clean bench (or biological safety cabinet) open operation,

easy to cause the animal pollution. In order to make the IVC really play its

experimental convenience, comfort, energy saving and environmental

protection and the prevention of cross infection advantages. Our company will

be biosafety protection concepts into the design and development of the SPF

mouse biological safety cage box system (Biological Safety Cages, BSC).

The BSC system consist of negative pressure purifying experiment, mouse

cage, electric control system and monitoring system. In cage (feed, feeding,

changing pad) and experimental (injections, medication, blood) completed in

one device, by air 100% cages efflux, quickly produced ”waste gas discharged

from the animal”, creating a clean and experimental environment for laboratory

personnel. It is a separate ventilation cage IVC system upgrade products,

animal experiment equipment safe and reliable for the study of science and

biological medicine life.

This system adopts negative pressure single fan purifications techniques are

also give experimental platform and is built in the experimental table cage box

to send clean air, cage is always in a clean strife environment, reduce

intermediate links carrying disinfection, prevents the SPF animal pollution. The

experimental platform in the air to the animal smell and harmful microorganism

aerosol spillover experiment, to ensure that the environment and the safety of

personnel, and is also a major innovation in IVC system. This system has been

It is a kind of animal-feeding equipment with local air-purification

function, suitable for using in an SPF barrier environment to prevent

animals from being contaminated.

The DJ Series has a structure in aluminum alloy frame mounted with

EPS sandwich panel. There are total four or five layers, one of which

is equipped with illuminating lamp and ultraviolet sterilization lamp to

facilitate operation and changing of cages. The front sliding door

consists of 4 pieces of organic glass, which is of excellent

transparency and convenient for observation. DJ Series Laminar

Flow Cabinet has a 4 inch caster with polyurethane brake.

Working principle: the indoor air, after two levels of filtration through

a coarse filter and a high-efficiency filter, is sent by a blower fan into

a static-pressure box in the back of the feeding area, and then blown

by a diffuser into the animal feeding area to form horizontally an even

The positive-pressure-type cabinet is a kind of animal-feeding

equipment with local air-purification function. It is used for feeding SPF

rabbits, while the negative-pressure-type cabinet is used for animal

JRB6 has a stainless steel structure, which includes a control box, an

PR Series Isolator for rats and mice

This equipment is specially designed for germ-free animals (nude

mice) or SPF animals. The mice box, feed, cushion material and

drinking water can be disinfected according to the standard operation

specification in a common environment, passed into or out of the

isolated packages, so as to carry out SPF animal experiments or

animal breed’s preservation.

The equipment consists of the soft isolator, the support rack, the mice

box rack inside the isolator, and the air volume control box.

The soft isolator is made of nontoxic ultra-osmotic PVC membrane,

and equipped with long-sleeved operation gloves for the

experimenting staff to change boxes and replenish water and feed.

The support rack are of upper and lower layers or of a single layer,

equipped with caster with brakes, transit cabin and high-efficient

filters for air suction and exhaustion.

The mice box rack is made of stainless steel square tubes, and can

hold three layers of mice cage boxes of different sizes.

Air volume control box. The control box of single-layer isolator is

located on the bottom of support rack; the control box of double-layer

isolator is located beside the isolator. The control box is connected

through a PVC hose to the high-efficient filter on the support rack.

Working principle: after the air is filtered through the high-efficient

filter, the air volume control box send the clean and fresh air into the

soft isolator for animals inside the mice box, the waste gas released

by the animals, after filtration of the high-efficient filter, is exhausted

to the outdoor environment.

This equipment jointly developed with the Shanghai B&K Universal

Group Limited, is of the following feature. Air flow retardant devices

are added on the inlet and outlet of the soft isolator to slow down the

air flow inside the bag to facilitate the growth of the animals. This

device is patented (Patent No. 200620071369.2). In addition, the

internal and external operation doors of stainless steel transit cabin

are easy to operate and thus guarantee the tightness of the isolator.

PRB6F rabbit isolator

This equipment, positive-pressure type or negative-

pressure type, is specially designed for rearing SPF

rabbits or conducting experiments of rabbit

contamination animals. The frontal operation

interface of positive-pressure type equipment is

made of PVC membrane, and that of negative-

pressure type equipment is made of organic glass.

Both types are equipped with long-sleeved operation

gloves. Rabbits are reared in an isolated

environment. The cages, feed, cushion material and

belt entering from the side cleaning tunnel, through the washing, cleaning, rising three working procedures from the other side,

the cleaning and disinfection effect,

Working principle: tunnel type cage automatic cleaning machine is composed of transmission belt, spray system, a cleaning

chamber, water tank, suction fan, a microcomputer controller PLC, inverter and counter, etc. The transmission belt is made of

Φ8mm solid round steel, easy damaged, no liquid leakage, travel speed can be adjustable, and the transmission is steady.

The spray is composed of high pressure jet pump, a spray pipe and a nozzle resistance to acid and alkali, spray pipe, down

two, above the distribution of a plurality of spray nozzle, can spray washing cages inside and outside wall. The cleaning
