Gate change at the Nicola dam The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations informed the City of Merritt of a gate change on Fridat at the Nicola Lake dam. Rain has already fallen in the upper ar- eas, and is forecast for the Merritt region. This is increasing water flows into the lake, and as a result the outflow through the dam will be increased slightly. Although this means more water will be flowing through Merritt, and the wa- ter level of the Nicola river will rise, no flooding risk is anticipated at this time.
