ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME
Morning Reflection
In beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...What has come into being in
the Word was life, and life is the liberation and survival of all people. The Word shines in the midst
of oppression and violence did not extinguish us. ~John 1

Call to Worship Leader: In a world where silence and darkness linger. People: arise, shine, for the light has come. Leader: In a world where sadness and fear remain, People: the glory of the Lord has risen upon us. Leader: Let the nations and peoples, our sons and daughters, gather together. People: and give thanks for the abundance around us. All: Let us be radiant; let our hearts thrill and rejoice. Let us proclaim the incarnate Christ, the light of all. Let us worship God. *Hymn - “The First Nowell” GTG #147 tune - The First Nowell Prayer of Confession (unison) Epiphany God, waiting to be seen and known – forgive us for those times when submersion in unthinking routine has dulled our perception of your presence and thwarted its life-changing possibilities. You wait to comfort and restore – so forgive us those moments when pride or fear has restricted our openness to your Presence and impeded its healing possibilities. You wait to challenge and transform- so forgive us for those occasions when preoccupation with comfort and familiarity has stifled our response to your peace and subverted its radical possibilities. Epiphany God – bright Morning Star – may we see your light shining upon us now and open ourselves to embrace its possibilities, that by its illumination we might find different ways by which to journey onwards. Amen *Words of Assurance Leader: Friends, believe the god news; People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.
Psalm 72:1-7 (responsively) Leader: Give the king your justice, God, and your righteousness to a kings son. People: May he judge your people with righteousness, and your poor with justice. Leader: May the mountains yield prosperity for the people, and the hills, in righteousness. People: May he defend the cause of the poor of the people, give deliverance to the needy, and crush the oppressor. Leader: May he live while the sun endures, and as long as the moon, throughout all generations. People: May he be like rain that falls on the mown grass, like showers that water the earth. Leader: In his days may righteousness flourish, and peace abound, until the moon is no more. *Congregational Response “Good Christian Friends, Rejoice” GTG #132 Good Christian friends, rejoice with heart and soul and voice; now ye hear of endless bliss: Jesus Christ was born for this! He has opened heaven’s door, and we are blest forever more. Christ was born for this! Christ was born for this! *Sharing of the Peace Leader: The peace of Christ be with you. People: And also with you.

RESPONSE TO THE WORD
*Affirmation of Faith (unison) Nicene Creed We believe in one God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all that is, seen and unseen. We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, be-gotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one being with the Father through him all things were made; who for us and for our salva-tion, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit and of the Virgin Mary, and became truly human. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate. He suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again according to the Scrip-tures, and ascended into heaven, and is seated on the right hand of the Father. He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, and his kingdom shall have no end. (continued on next page)
*Affirmation of Faith (continued) And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceed from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshipped and glorified, who spoken through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen. The Lord’s Supper Invitation to the Table The Great Thanksgiving:
Leader: The Lord be with you People: And also with you Leader: Lift up your hearts People: We lift them up to the Lord Leader: Let us give thanks to the Lord People: It is right to give our thanks and praise. Leader: It is truly right and our greatest joy…
And join their unending hymn singing, People: Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee. Holy, Holy, Holy! Merciful and mighty! God in three persons, blessed Trinity! Leader: Like your glory, may your holiness be eternal, God of
wind and flames.

Noisy Collection Make a Joyful Noise unto the Lord!!
The children take this extra collection asking people
to put their change into the collection cans, the last Sunday of the month.
Each month the donation is given to a different cause.
Sunday School: Today we will remain in service for Communion. Also, if you have a child in Sunday School, please join our Facebook page: Collingswood Presbyterian Church Sunday School.
Also, SAVE THE DATE for January 13, 2019 6:30pm. We will be watching “Won’t You Be My Neighbor” the Fred Rogers documentary. (Yummy snacks included). This event is open to EVERYONE.
If you have not done so already, please join our Youth Group Face-book Page: Collingswood Presbyterian Youth Group. It is a good way to keep in touch and up to date on youth group info and activities. YOUTH THIS MEANS YOU TOO!
We want to thank everyone that donated to the "noisy change" collection last week which was for Heifer International. With your help we collected enough to purchase a Earth Gift Basket which includes a hive of bees and seedlings of trees. These items will pro-vide more efficient crop growth through pollination, prevent soil erosion, provide fodder for livestock, and contribute to a better en-vironment with cleaner air. Also, the benefits from the bees in this basket are twofold. The wax and honey they provide can be sold at market for extra income, and their pollination can create more and better fruits and vegeta-bles. As the tree seedlings grow, their roots prevent soil erosion and create shade for animals. Mother Nature would certainly appreciate this thoughtful gift. Your Mission Committee
